Tiverton Town Football Club are an English football club based in Tiverton, Devon. The club are currently members of the and play at The Ian Moorcroft Stadium, previously known as Ladysmead. History The club was established in 1913 as Tiverton Athletic, and initially played at the Athletic Ground. They joined the East Devon League, winning the Senior Division in 1924–25, 1925–26, 1926–27 and 1927–28. They then joined the North Devon League, winning it in 1931–32, after which they transferred to the Exeter & District League, which they won in 1933–34. In 1951–52 the club won the league's Senior Division, and in 1956 won the Devon Senior Cup for the first time. They won the league again in 1964–65 and 1965–66, a season in which they also won the Senior Cup for a second time. In 1973 the club joined the Western League. Tiverton, Devon
Tiverton ( ) is a town and civil parish in Devon, England, and the commercial and administrative centre of the Mid Devon district. The population in 2019 was 20,587. History Early history The town's name is conjectured to derive from "Twy-ford-ton" or "Twyverton", meaning "the town on two fords", and was historically referred to as "Twyford". The town stands at the confluence of the rivers River Exe, Exe and Lowman. Human occupation in the area dates back to the Stone Age, with many flint tools found in the area. Chris Curran (footballer Born September 1971)
Christopher Curran (born 17 September 1971) is an English former professional footballer. Curran was born in Birmingham and began his career as a trainee with Torquay United, making his debut during the 1989–90 season whilst still a trainee. He turned professional on 13 July 1990 and went on to make 152 appearances for the Gulls, scoring 4 goals. On 22 December 1995 he was, surprisingly, sold to local rivals Plymouth Argyle for £40,000, but failed to settle at Home Park, moving to Exeter City on 31 July 1997 for £20,000. This move made him one of only a handful of players to have played for all three of the Football League sides in Devon. He made an impressive start to his career at Exeter, but in September 1997 picked up a serious knee ligament injury which ruled him out for the remainder of the season. Matthew Villis (born 13 April 1984) is an English footballer who played for Taunton Town as a centre back, having previously played for Bridgwater Town, Plymouth Argyle, Torquay United, Weston-Super-Mare, Tiverton Town, Bideford and Yate Town Career Villis began his career as a junior with Bridgwater Town before signing as a trainee with Plymouth Argyle, turning professional in July 2003. Stephen Philip Collis (born 18 March 1981) is an English former professional footballer who is currently the goalkeeping coach at English League Two club Notts County. Sean Thomas Canham (born 26 September 1984) is an English footballer who plays for Gwelup Croatia. Career After an unsuccessful trial with Charlton Athletic, Canham signed for Notts County in early August 2008, for the start of the 2008–09 season. Canham made his debut for Notts County on 9 August 2008, in the 2–1 away defeat to Bradford City. On 1 September 2009, Canham went on loan to Hayes & Yeading United. Paul Buckle
Paul John Buckle (born 16 December 1970) is an English football manager and former player. He has previously been the interim head coach of San Diego Wave FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), the manager of Torquay United, Bristol Rovers, Luton Town, Cheltenham Town and Sacramento Republic. An apprentice at Brentford, Buckle turned professional in 1989, was loaned to Wycombe Wanderers and then joined Torquay United, before moving to Exeter City. Steven Kim Book (born 7 July 1969) is an English former professional football goalkeeper who is employed as the goalkeeping coach at Cheltenham Town. Elliot Paul Benyon (born 29 August 1987) is an English footballer who plays for Hanwell Town as a striker. Career Benyon began his career as a trainee at Bristol City after being spotted playing local football in High Wycombe.
