The main population comprises a Pashtun Tribes of Swatis who are reported to have migrated to this area in 1703 from Swat and wrested this area from the clutches of Sultanate of Hazara Turks. Batagram Tehsil
Battagram Tehsil is an administrative subdivision ( Tehsil) of the Battagram District in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. It serves as the Tehsil headquarters and covers a total area of 300 square miles (780 km2). Battagram Tehsil merged into Pakistan as an administrative region before being raised to the status of a district in 1993. On October 8, 2005, a 7.6 magnitude earthquake in Kashmir badly affected the area. Overview and history Battagram Tehsil is surrounded by Allai, Shangla, and Kohistan to the north and the east, and by the Kaghan Valley and Mansehra to the west. Battagram ( ps, بټګرام ولسوالۍ, ur, ) is a district in Abaseen Division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. The headquarter is Battagram, which is about 75-km from Mansehra. Overview and history The district of Battagram is located at the latitude of 34.41 and longitude 73.1. It is surrounded by Kohistan District to the north, Mansehra District to the east, Kala Dhaka (now Torghar District) to the south and Shangla District to the west. It has a total land area of 1301 square kilometres. Battagram obtained the status of district in July 1993 when it was upgraded from a Tehsil and separated from Mansehra District. Demographics At the time of the 2017 census the district had a population of 476,749, of which 238,402 were males and 238,312 females. The entire population was rural. Sultanate Of Hazara
The Sultanate of Hazara or Hazara Sultanate also natively known as Hazara i Karlugh was an early modern empire based in South Asia between the 15th and 18th centuries. The sultanate encompassed the modern Hazara region, bordering Kashmir Subah to the east, Lahore Subah to the south, Kabul Subah to the west and the semi autonomous states of Gilgit to the north. The Karlugh Turks ruled the region autonomously under the Timurids until 1480, establishing their sovereignty.
