The Vietnamese government often groups the various provinces and municipalities into three regions: Northern Vietnam, Central Vietnam, and Southern Vietnam. Red River Delta
The Red River Delta or Hong River Delta () is the flat low-lying plain formed by the Red River and its distributaries merging with the Thái Bình River in Northern Vietnam. ''Hồng'' (紅) is a Sino-Vietnamese word for "red" or "crimson". The delta has the smallest area but highest population and population density of all regions. The region, measuring some is well protected by a network of dikes. It is an agriculturally rich and densely populated area. Most of the land is devoted to rice cultivation. Eight provinces, together with two municipalities (the capital Hanoi, and the port of Haiphong) form the delta. It had a population of almost 23 million in 2019. Hòa Bình Province
Hòa Bình or Hoà Bình (see tone marks) was a former mountainous province of Vietnam, located in the nation's Northwest region. Sơn Tây, Hanoi
__NOTOC__ Sơn Tây () is a district-level town ("thị xã") in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. It was the capital of Sơn Tây province before merging with Hà Đông province to form Hà Tây province in 1965. Sơn Tây lies west of the capital Hanoi. It had a city status in Hà Tây province. However, when Hà Tây was absorbed into Hanoi, Sơn Tây was demoted from a city to a town. It is often referred to as “soldier town” due to the proliferation of army barracks and military institutions that surrounds the town, including the Vietnamese People's Army Infantry Academy. Sơn Tây's future is seen as being very much that of a satellite city of Hanoi and as a result there are plans to relocate universities and other public facilities to Sơn Tây where land is cheaper and more plentiful. Ba Vì District
Ba Vì is a district of Hanoi, Vietnam. Ba Vì district was established on July 26, 1968. History Ba Vì was consolidated basis of the old districts Bất Bạt, Tùng Thiện and Quảng Oai, Hà Tây province. From 1975 to 1978, Ba Vì district belonged to Hà Sơn Bình province, and from 1978 to 1991, it belonged to Hanoi city. In 1982, seven communes: Cổ Đông, Đường Lâm, Kim Sơn, Sơn Đông, Thanh Mỹ, Trung Sơn Trầm and Xuân Sơn, were managed by Sơn Tây town; and two communes: Tích Giang and Trạch Mỹ Lộc, were managed by Phúc Thọ district.
