Théo Bernard François Hernandez (; born 6 October 1997) is a French professional Association football, footballer who plays as a left-back for Serie A club AC Milan and the France national football team, France national team. He is known for his speed, dribbling, and goal scoring ability. Théo is the younger brother of fellow professional footballer Lucas Hernandez, and the son of Jean-François Hernandez, a retired footballer. Club career Atlético Madrid Born in Marseille, Hernandez moved to Spain at the age of two. He then joined Atlético Madrid's academy in 2007, aged nine. The UEFA Nations League is an international European football competition played by the senior men's national teams of the member associations of UEFA, the sport's European governing body. The competition was devised to minimise friendlies and give nations competitive encounters with equally ranked teams. Teams from all the European associations compete in a league structure featuring promotion and relegation. The first tournament began in September 2018, with the four group winners from League A qualifying for the first finals, played in Portugal in June 2019. In association football, a substitute is a player who is brought on to the pitch during a match in exchange for an existing player. Substitutions are generally made to replace a player who has become tired or injured, or who is performing poorly, or for tactical reasons (such as bringing a striker on in place of a defender). A player who has been substituted during a match takes no further part in the game, in games played under the standard International Football Association Board Laws of the Game. Substitutions were officially added to the Laws of the Game in 1958. Prior to this most games were played with no changes permitted at all, with occasional exceptions in cases of extreme injury or players not arriving to matches on time. Jean-François Hernandez (; born 23 April 1969) is a French former professional footballer who played as a central defender. Club career Born in Tours of Spanish descent, Hernandez played for Toulouse FC, FC Sochaux-Montbéliard and Olympique de Marseille in his own country, amassing Ligue 1 totals of 177 games and three goals in representation of the first two clubs.
