Thure Hellström
Thure Adolf Hellström (30 May 1880 – 23 December 1946) was a Finnish architect working on railroad stations for Rautatiehallitus (The Railroad Board) with Bruno Granholm. Hellström was born in Koivisto. He designed wooden railway station buildings at Kemi - Rovaniemi, Joensuu-Nurmes, Seinäjoki-Kaskinen, Perälä-Kristinestad, Pieksämäki-Savonlinna and Sciences-Pieksämäki. His early style was Art Nouveau, but he also designed Neoclassical station buildings. Later, he designed more substantial buildings in stone such as Hämeenlinna, Ore, Kuopio, Pori, Riihimäki railway stations, and in 1935 in brick, Gulf station. He died in Helsinki. Tampere Railway Station
Tampere Central Station is a Functionalism (architecture), functionalist building in Tampere, Finland, designed by Eero Seppälä and Otto Flodin, completed in 1936. The station is one of the most important railway stations in Finland. In 2015, the Tampere Central Station was the second busiest railway station in Finland in terms of numbers of passengers, after the Helsinki Central Station. The 36-metre clock tower was later added because the Finnish railway bureau required it (its total height from ground level is about 50 metres). The city's main street Hämeenkatu begins at the railway station, continuing over the Hämeensilta bridge to its western end at the Aleksanteri Church. The Lahti railway station (, ) is located in the city of Lahti in Finland. History During the planning stages of the Saint Petersburg railway, two track alignment options were weighed with regard to connecting the fledgling Finnish railways with the important waterborne route on lake Päijänne: one passing through Anianpelto in Asikkala on the narrow isthmus between lake Vesijärvi and the Päijänne, and another grazing the Vesijärvi on its southern shore, in the village of Lahti in Hollola. The plan to build the line via Lahti was officialized in 1864, largely due to pragmatic reasons: the line turned out approximately shorter than should have it be built through Anianpelto, amounting to a time save of about two hours per trip between Helsinki and St. Petersburg. Bruno Granholm
Bruno Ferdinand Granholm (May 14, 1857 in Myrskylä – September 29, 1930) was a Finnish architect. He served as the chief architect of Rautatiehallitus (The Railroad Board) between 1892 and 1926. Many of the station buildings he designed are still in use today, having aged surprisingly well. Granholm designed the station buildings for the Haapamäki–Jyväskylä, Jyväskylä– Suolahti, Helsinki–Turku, Kuopio–Iisalmi, Oulu–Tornio, Iisalmi–Kajaani and Savonlinna– Elisenvaara tracks.
