Three Lions (song)
"Three Lions" is a song by the English comedians David Baddiel and Frank Skinner and the rock band the Lightning Seeds. It was released on 20 May 1996 through Epic Records to mark the England football team's participation in that year's UEFA European Championship, which England was hosting. The music was written by the Lightning Seeds singer Ian Broudie, while Baddiel and Skinner—presenters of the football comedy show '' Fantasy Football League''—provided the lyrics. All three provided vocals. The title comes from the England team emblem. Both the original version of "Three Lions" and the updated "Three Lions '98" reached number one on the UK Singles Chart. David Lionel Baddiel (; born 28 May 1964) is an English comedian, presenter, screenwriter, author and singer. He became known for his early work alongside Rob Newman in '' The Mary Whitehouse Experience'' and later for his comedy partnership with Frank Skinner. He has written the children's books '' The Parent Agency'', ''The Person Controller'', ''AniMalcolm'', ''Birthday Boy'', ''Head Kid'', and ''The Taylor TurboChaser''. He is also a lyricist on " Three Lions", a song that has been described as the de facto "anthem" of English football since 1996. Robert Frederick Chelsea Moore (12 April 1941 – 24 February 1993) was an English professional footballer. 1995–96 UEFA Cup
The 1995–96 UEFA Cup was the 25th season of Europe's then-tertiary club football tournament organised by UEFA. It was won by German club Bayern Munich on aggregate over Bordeaux of France. Girondins de Bordeaux went to the final all the way from the 1995 UEFA Intertoto Cup, its first season, being the only Intertoto Cup entrant to reach this far of the UEFA Cup. Terry Butcher
Terry Ian Butcher (born 28 December 1958) is an English football manager and former player. During his playing career as a defender, Butcher captained the England national team, winning 77 caps in a ten-year international career that featured three FIFA World Cups.
