Three Creeks Township, Boone County, Missouri
Three Creeks Township is one of ten townships in Boone County, Missouri, USA. The township's contains part of the city of Ashland and also a part of the village of Pierpont. History Settled mainly by settlers from the upland south (Kentucky, Virginia, and Tennessee), the township was named the three major creeks draining it: Boone Femme, Turkey, and Bass Creeks. Much of the area was too hilly for agriculture and was settled by freed slaves after the civil war. The Columbia Regional Airport is located on former prairie east of U.S. Highway 63. Geography Three Creeks Township spans Boone County east to west and just located above Cedar Township The only incorporated settlements: Ashland and Pierpont. Three Creeks Conservation Area
Three Creeks Conservation Area is a nature preserve in Boone County, Missouri. Its Ozark terrain has many karst features including caves, springs, and sinkholes. It is located south of Columbia, Missouri and the more well-known Rock Bridge Memorial State Park. The conservation area is named after the three streams which flow through it: Turkey Creek, Bass Creek, and Bonne Femme Creek. Its nearly 1500 acres are mostly forested and managed by the Missouri Department of Conservation. There are numerous trails for hiking. In 2019, former Columbia Daily Tribune owners Hank Waters and Vicki Russell donated 207 acres adjacent to the park for the construction of a nature school. The school will be a cooperative effort between Columbia Public Schools and the Missouri Department of Conservation. Columbia Regional Airport is a commercial passenger airport serving Columbia, Missouri. Located about 12 miles (19 km) southeast of Columbia in Boone County, Missouri, it is the only commercial airport in Mid-Missouri and also serves the state capital of Jefferson City.
