Thorbjørn Gjølstad
Thorbjørn Gjølstad (29 September 1942 – 26 May 2015) was a Norwegian jurist and civil servant. He graduated with the cand.jur. degree from the University of Oslo in 1968, and served as a deputy judge at Eidsvoll District Court. He was hired in Riksskattestyret, the Norwegian Tax Administration, and also worked in the Norwegian Prosecuting Authority before serving as head of the Tax Law Department in the Ministry of Finance from 1988 to 2012. In the year of his retirement he was decorated as a Knight, First Class of the Order of St. Olav. University Of Oslo
The University of Oslo (; ) is a public university, public research university located in Oslo, Norway. It is the List of oldest universities in continuous operation#Europe, oldest university in Norway. Originally named the Royal Frederick University, the university was established in 1811 as the de facto Norwegian continuation of Denmark-Norway's common university, the University of Copenhagen, with which it shares many traditions. Eidsvoll (; sometimes written as ''Eidsvold'') is a municipality in Akershus county, Norway. It is part of the Romerike traditional region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Sundet. General information Etymology The first element is the genitive case of the word ''eid'' (Old Norse: ''eið'') and the last element is ''voll'' (Old Norse: ''vǫllr'') which means "meadow" or "field". The meaning of the word ''eid'' in this case is "a road passing around a waterfall". People from the districts around the lake (Mjøsa) who were sailing down the river Vorma, and people from Romerike sailing up the same river, both had to enter this area by passing the Sundfossen waterfall. Norwegian Prosecuting Authority () is a body subordinate to the Norwegian Council of State. This body is responsible for legal prosecutions in Norway. It is divided into three levels. The third level of the Prosecuting Authority is the Police. Liv Gjølstad (born 9 January 1945) is a Norwegian judge. She was born in Tønsberg. She graduated with the cand.jur. degree from the University of Oslo in 1969. She worked under the Norwegian Parliamentary Ombudsman from 1971, as a presiding judge in Eidsivating Court of Appeal, Eidsivating from 1983 and as Supreme Court of Norway, Supreme Court Justice from 1988 to 2015. She has also been a board member of the Norwegian Nuclear Energy Safety Authority from 1990 to 1992, deputy board member of the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund from 1993 to 1996 and council member of the Labour Court of Norway.
