Thomas Thompson (1754–1828), was a Kingston upon Hull banker and Wesleyan Methodist Church (Great Britain), Wesleyan Methodist preacher. The father of Thomas Perronet Thompson, he had the gothic mansion, Cottingham Castle, built in Cottingham, East Riding of Yorkshire. Biography Thomas Thompson was born 5 April 1754, in relatively humble beginnings, his father was a yeoman in Owborough Grange, Swine, East Riding of Yorkshire. He was educated by the Rev. Thomas Thompson (1879–1939) was an English professional footballer who played in the Football League for Small Heath. Thompson was born in Smethwick, Staffordshire. He was playing for Nettlefolds' works team when Small Heath signed him, attracted by his pace on the left wing. Thomas Vincent Thompson (January 16, 1943 – September 28, 1978) was an American racing driver of Afro-American descent. Thompson competed in various racing series most notably in the SCCA Formula Super Vee and USAC Mini-Indy series. Racing career Thompson first appeared in Formula Super Vee in 1976. The New Yorker competed in the SCCA US Formula Super Vee. Thompson was an engineer and driver for the Black American Racers Association. Thompson ended 25th in the championship scoring three points. In 1976 Thompson participated in the SCCA National Championship Runoffs in the Formula Super Vee class. At Road Atlanta he failed to finish in his Lola T324. The 1955 Southern 500, the sixth running of the event, was a NASCAR Grand National Series event. The event was held on September 5, 1955, at Darlington Raceway in Darlington, South Carolina. This race spanned 500 miles on a paved oval track. An unofficial 30-minute highlight film of this race would appear on the collector's set of ''Stock Cars of 50s & 60s – Stock Car Memories: Darlington-Southern 500''; which was released in 2008. Tommy George Thompson (born November 19, 1941) is an American politician who served as the 19th United States secretary of Health and Human Services from 2001 to 2005 in the cabinet of President George W. Bush. A member of the Republican Party, he was the 42nd governor of Wisconsin from 1987 to 2001 and Republican floor leader in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 1981 to 1987. Thompson is the longest-serving governor in Wisconsin history and is the only person to be elected to the office four times. During his tenure as governor he was also chair of Amtrak, the nation's passenger rail service. He was chairman of the Republican Governors Association in 1991 and 1992, and the National Governors Association in 1995 and 1996. Thomas Thompson (born 24 February 1934) is an English former cricketer. Thompson was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm off break. He was born at Workington, Cumberland. Thompson made his debut for Cumberland in the 1955 Minor Counties Championship against Durham. Between 1955 and 1961, he made 32 Minor Counties Championship appearances for Cumberland. He joined Leicestershire for the 1963 season, making his first-class debut against Derbyshire at Grace Road in the 1963 County Championship. He made a further first-class appearance in that season against Nottinghamshire, before making seven further appearances in the 1964 County Championship, the last of which came against Essex. Thomas Norman Thompson (May 22, 1947 - September 30, 2019) was an American infielder and manager in minor league baseball. As a player, he stood tall and weighed . He threw and batted right-handed. He was born in Upland, California. Thompson graduated from Chaffey Union High School and attended Chaffey College and the University of Kansas. He then played eight seasons (1967–1974) as a shortstop, third baseman and second baseman in the farm system of the St. Louis Cardinals, spending one season, 1973, at the Triple-A level, where he batted only .220 for the Tulsa Oilers.
