Thistle Athletic Football Club was an association football club based in the town of Milngavie, at the time in Dunbartonshire. History Milngavie Football Club The first senior club in the town was the Milngavie club, founded in 1875. It first recorded fixture was a 1–0 home defeat to the Grafton club of Glasgow at the start of the 1876–77 season. The club entered the Scottish Cup for the first time in 1877–78, and won at Alexandria, scoring in the second half after Alexandria dominated the first. The club was brought down to earth by a 9–0 defeat at Lennox in the second. The Scottish Junior Football Association (SJFA) is an affiliated national association of the Scottish Football Association and is the governing body for the junior grade of football (soccer), football in Scotland. The term "junior" refers to the level of football played, not the age of the players. The closest equivalent terminology would be non-League football in England, the difference being that junior football in Scotland was not similarly integrated into its Scottish football league system, football league system until 2021. Stenhousemuir
Stenhousemuir (; ) is a town in the Central Lowlands of Scotland. It lies within the Falkirk council area of Scotland. The town is north-northwest of Falkirk and directly adjoins to Larbert in the west, where the nearest rail access is located. The villages of Carron and Carronshore adjoin Stenhousemuir to the east but to a lesser extent. Historically, Stenhousemuir lies with the historic county of Stirlingshire. At the 2001 census it showed that it had a resident population of 10,351 but according to a 2009 estimate this was revised to around 10,190 residents. The combined population of the four localities in 2011 was 24,722, representing about 15% of the Falkirk council area total. Camelon (; , ) is a large settlement within the Falkirk council area, Scotland. The village is in the Forth Valley, west of Falkirk, south of Larbert and east of Bonnybridge. The main road through Camelon is the A803 road which links the village to Falkirk. At the time of the 2001 census, Camelon had a population of 4,508. History Human activity at Camelon pre-dates the Romans, as Bronze Age items have been recovered from graves in the area. Camelon is the site of a series of Roman fortifications built between 80 and 83 AD. Camelon has been suggested as the southern fort of the Roman Gask Ridge separating the Highlands from the Lowlands. The Roman fort was under a mile north of the Antonine Wall. A Roman altar was found at Bogton Farm 1000 yards (under a kilometre) west of the fort. The Stirlingshire Cup is an association football cup competition for clubs in the counties of Stirlingshire, Clackmannanshire & Dunbartonshire, Scotland. The competition was founded in 1883 and was contested annually by senior member clubs of the Stirlingshire Football Association until the 2014-15 tournament. The cup returned under a new group stage format for the 2024-25 season, with Championship side Falkirk F.C., Falkirk crowned champions for the 33rd time in a 5-1 win over League Two side Stirling Albion F.C., Stirling Albion. 1874–75 FA Cup
The 1874–75 FA Cup was the fourth edition of the annual FA Cup, the oldest national football tournament in the world. Entrants increased to 29 teams, one more than the previous season; four would never contest a match. It began on 27 February 1875 and ended at Final Replay on 16 March 1875. Semi-final and final winning results were partly determined through replays. Oxford University unsuccessfully defended its FA Cup in a rematch with their previous season's contestants against the Royal Engineers, 1–0 in the Semi-final on 27 February 1875 in Kennington Oval, London. Farningham is a village and civil parish in the Sevenoaks District of Kent, England. It is located south-east of Swanley. It has a population of 1,314. History Farningham is believed to be home to Neolithic human occupancy – flint and other tools have been discovered and can be found in the Dartford Museum. The Romans occupied the general area after their invasion in the 1st century AD and, along with large evidence of habitation down the road in Lullingstone, there is also evidence of Roman habitation in Farningham. Three farmhouses and three villas have been unearthed. Charles Dickens was a visitor during his time for the trout fishing that the Darent provided. 1882–83 Scottish Cup
The 1882–83 Scottish Cup – officially the Scottish Football Association Challenge Cup – was the tenth season of Scotland's most prestigious Association football, football knockout competition. Dumbarton F.C., Dumbarton won the cup for the first, and so far only, time when they beat Vale of Leven F.C., Vale of Leven 2–1 in a replayed final.
