''This One's For You'' is the fourth studio album by American singer-songwriter Barry Manilow released in 1976. The album went 2× platinum and yielded the hits " This One's for You", " Weekend in New England", " Looks Like We Made It", and the original version of " Daybreak". The album debuted on the ''Billboard'' Top LPs chart on August 21, 1976, peaking at number six in 1977. The album peaked at number 24 for two weeks on Canada's ''RPM'' albums chart. Barry Manilow ( ; born Barry Alan Pincus on June 17, 1943) is an American singer, songwriter and record producer with a career that spans over sixty years. His hit recordings include "Could It Be Magic", "Looks Like We Made It", "Brandy (Scott English song)#Barry Manilow version, Mandy", "I Write the Songs", "Can't Smile Without You", "Weekend in New England", and "Copacabana (At the Copa)". Manilow has recorded and released 51 Top 40 singles on the Adult Contemporary Chart, including 13 that hit number one, 28 that appeared within the top ten, and 36 that reached the top twenty. Bruce Sussman
Bruce Howard Sussman (born July 12, 1949) is an American lyricist and librettist. Though he has collaborated with numerous composers, he is probably best known for his work with his long-time collaborator, Barry Manilow. Together, they have written over two hundred songs for numerous recording artists, films, stage musicals and television programs. Life and career Sussman was born in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York and was raised on Long Island, where he graduated from Sanford H. Calhoun High School in Merrick, New York. He then graduated from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Upon his return to New York, he was accepted into the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop. Charlie Calello
Charles Calello (born August 24, 1938) is an American arranger, composer, conductor, record producer, and singer born in Newark, New Jersey. Calello attended Newark Arts High School and the Manhattan School of Music, in New York City. His track record of successfully collaborating with various artists to produce or arrange Billboard hit songs led to his nickname in the industry as the "Hit Man." In the late 1950s, Calello was a member of Frankie Valli's group The Four Lovers, but left before the group was transformed into The Four Seasons. In 1962, he became the group's musical arranger. Lady Flash was an American trio of singers whose members were Reparata Mazzola, Monica Pege (stage name: Monica Burruss), and Debra Byrd. They were the featured backup group for Barry Manilow from 1974–1979 and released one hit of their own, 1976's "Street Singin'". The tune, which was written and arranged by Manilow, reached #27 on the Billboard Hot 100 record chart. The song came from their album, ''Beauties In The Night'' which was also produced by Manilow. Debra Byrd (July 19, 1951 – March 5, 2024) was an American vocalist who worked with Barry Manilow in and after Lady Flash and Bob Dylan, appeared on Broadway, and served as the head vocal coach for ''American Idol'' and ''Canadian Idol'', also singing backup for the contestants. Byrd helped with vocals on the Hub Television Series "Majors and Minors". In her later years, she served as vocal coach for ten seasons of ''American Idol'', as well as the short-lived ''American Juniors ''American Juniors'' is an American reality television singing competition series that was broadcast for one season from June 3 to August 19, 2003, on Fox. He worked with former Beatles Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and John Lennon during the 1970s, and had a long collaboration with singer-songwriter James Taylor, producing Taylor's album '' Walking Man''.
