The Wanderings Of Húrin
''The War of the Jewels'' (1994) is the 11th volume of Christopher Tolkien's series ''The History of Middle-earth'', analysing the unpublished manuscripts of his father J. R. R. Tolkien. It is the second of two volumes—''Morgoth's Ring'' being the first—to explore the later 1951 '' Silmarillion'' drafts (those written after the completion of ''The Lord of the Rings''). Book Contents The volume includes: * The second part of the 1951 ''Silmarillion'' drafts * An expanded account of the "Grey Annals", the history of Beleriand after the coming of the Elves. * Additional narratives involving Húrin and the tragedy of his children (see Narn i Chîn Húrin). "The Wanderings of Húrin" is the conclusion to the ''Narn''. Christopher Tolkien
Christopher John Reuel Tolkien (21 November 1924 – 16 January 2020) was an English and naturalised French academic editor and writer. The son of the author and academic J. R. R. Tolkien, Christopher edited 24 volumes based on his father's Posthumous work, posthumously published work, including ''The Silmarillion'' and the 12-volume series ''The History of Middle-Earth'', a task that took 45 years. He also drew the original Tolkien's maps, maps for his father's fantasy novel ''The Lord of the Rings''. Outside his father's unfinished works, Christopher edited three tales by Geoffrey Chaucer (with Nevill Coghill) and his father's translation of ''Sir Gawain and the Green Knight''. Tolkien scholars have remarked that he used his skill as a Philology, philologist, demonstrated in his editing of those medieval works, to research, collate, edit, and comment on his father's Middle-earth writings exactly as if they were real-world legends. Thingol
Elu Thingol or Elwë Singollo is a fictional character in J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth legendarium. He appears in ''The Silmarillion'', ''The Lays of Beleriand'' and ''The Children of Húrin'' and in numerous stories in ''The History of Middle-earth''. The King of Doriath, King of the Sindar Elves, High-king, p. 21, "Fingolfin...acknowledged the high-kingship of Thingol"; p. 380, Thingol is acknowledged high-king by Círdan and his following; p. 410, the Grey-elves of Mithrim acknowledged Thingol as high-king. and Lord of Beleriand, he is a major character in the First Age of Middle-earth and an essential part of the ancestral backgrounding of the romance between Aragorn and Arwen in ''The Lord of the Rings''. Mallorn (journal)
The Tolkien Society is an Charitable organization, educational charity and literary society devoted to the study and promotion of the life and works of the author and academic J. R. R. Tolkien. It began informally in 1969, and held its inaugural meeting in 1970. It holds five annual events, namely a Birthday Toast, a Tolkien Reading Day, an AGM and Springmoot, a Seminar, and the Oxonmoot conference-and-convention. The society publishes a bulletin named ''Amon Hen'', and a peer-reviewed journal, ''Mallorn''. It has local groups called "smials", one of which, the Cambridge Tolkien Society, publishes the open access journal ''Anor''.
