The Wall Tour (1980–1981)
The Wall Tour was a concert tour by the English progressive rock band Pink Floyd throughout 1980–1981 in support of their concept album ''The Wall''. The tour was relatively small compared to previous tours for a major release, with only 31 shows performed across four venues. Concerts were performed only in England, the United States and Germany. The tour was notable for its extensive use of stage theatrics, most notably a giant wall constructed across the stage to convey the sense of alienation present in both the album, and Roger Waters' personal feelings at the time. This was the last tour of Pink Floyd with Roger Waters, before his departure in 1985. 17 June 1981 was the last concert of the tour, and the band's last full concert with Waters (he joined them again on 2 July 2005 at ''Live 8''). Westfalenhallen
Westfalenhallen is a conference venue (Kongresszentrum Dortmund) and exhibition center (Messe Dortmund) with an indoor arena (Westfalenhalle) in Dortmund, Germany. It is surrounded by the Eissportzentrum Westfalenhallen, Stadion Rote Erde, Westfalenstadion and Helmut-Körnig-Halle. The original building was opened in 1925, but was destroyed during World War II. Reopening in 1952, new halls were built, the "Große Westfalenhalle", and the "Kleine Westfalenhalle", which served for balls, exhibitions and concerts, such as the Dortmunder Philharmoniker, until the Opernhaus Dortmund opened in 1966. The Bundesliga was founded at the Westfalenhallen in 1962. Nick Mason
Nicholas Berkeley Mason (born 27 January 1944) is an English drummer and a founder member of the progressive rock band Pink Floyd. He has been the only constant member since the band's formation in 1965, and the only member to appear on every Pink Floyd album. He co-wrote Pink Floyd compositions including "Echoes (Pink Floyd song), Echoes", "Time (Pink Floyd song), Time", "Careful with That Axe, Eugene" and "One of These Days (instrumental), One of These Days". In 1996, Mason was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Pink Floyd. In 2018, he formed a new band, Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets, to perform music from Pink Floyd's early years. Mark Fisher (architect)
Mark Fisher, OBE, MVO, RDI (20 April 1947 – 25 June 2013) was a British architect best known for his rock music stage sets. He was born in Warwickshire, England. Fisher graduated from the Architectural Association School of Architecture (AA School) in London in 1971. He was a Unit Master at the AA School from 1973 to 1977. In 1984 he set up the Fisher Park Partnership with Jonathan Park. The partnership was dissolved in 1994 when he established Stufish, the Mark Fisher Studio. Richard Wright (musician)
Richard William Wright (28 July 1943 – 15 September 2008) was an English keyboardist and songwriter who co-founded the progressive rock band Pink Floyd. He appeared on almost every Pink Floyd album and performed on all of their tours. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 as a member of Pink Floyd. Wright grew up in Hatch End, Middlesex, and met his future Pink Floyd bandmates Roger Waters and Nick Mason while studying architecture at the Regent Street Polytechnic, London. After being joined by frontman and songwriter Syd Barrett, Pink Floyd achieved commercial success in 1967. ''Pink Floyd – The Wall'' is a 1982 British live-action/animated musical surrealist drama film directed by Alan Parker, based on Pink Floyd's 1979 studio album '' The Wall''. The screenplay was written by Pink Floyd vocalist and bassist Roger Waters, with animation sequences directed by Gerald Scarfe. The Boomtown Rats' lead vocalist Bob Geldof made his film debut as rock star Pink, who, driven to neurosis by the pressures of stardom and traumatic events in his life, constructs an emotional and mental wall to protect himself.
