The United (film)
''The United'' (Arabic: المتحدين) is an unreleased film produced by Touchstone Pictures. It was conceived as Disney's first ever Arabic-language film, intended primarily for Middle Eastern audiences. Produced by Rachel Gandin, ''The United'' was directed by Amin Matalqa, written by Nizar Wattad, and features performances from Farouk Al-Fishawy, Waleed Zuaiter, Bosaina, and Amir Scandar. It was shot in and around Amman, Jordan in January 2011 by veteran cinematographer Ray Peschke, and edited by Debbie Berman. In addition to an original score by composer, Omar Fadel, the United also features a vocal collaboration between three of the Arab world's best known rappers, Omar Offendum, Deeb, and Salah Edin. Bosaina
Bosaina is an Egyptian singer-songwriter, producer, art curator, actress, and model. She is the lead vocalist for several bands in the Egyptian electronic music collective Kairo is Koming (KIK). Bosaina participated in the 2014 Red Bull Music Academy in Tokyo and starred in ''The United'', the first film by Touchstone Pictures filmed in the Middle East. Career In an interview with Resident Advisor in 2014, Bosaina described taking an Ableton Live production course and using the software to make her first EP. Bosaina has performed with several Cairo-based electronic bands, including Wetrobots, Zuli, and Quit Together, through her involvement with the Kairo Is Koming Collective (KIK). She has toured globally, performing in Lebanon, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Japan, and in the United States at the SXSW Festival. Waleed Zuaiter
Waleed F. Zuaiter (; born January 16, 1971) is a Palestinian-American actor and producer who has performed in on-stage productions in Washington, D.C.; Berkeley, California; and New York City, as well as several film and television productions. He lives in Los Angeles, California. He is the producer and co-star of '' Omar'' (2013), which was nominated for an Oscar at the 86th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. Early life and education Zuaiter, an American with Palestinian ancestry, born in 1971 in Sacramento, California, but grew up in Kuwait. Omar Offendum
Omar Offendum is a Syrian American hip-hop artist, designer, poet and peace activist. He was born in Saudi Arabia, raised in Washington, DC, and now lives in Los Angeles, California. He tours the world performing internationally at music festivals, lecturing at major academic institutions and fundraising for humanitarian relief organizations. Most recently Offendum has been involved in creating several critically acclaimed songs about the popular democratic uprisings throughout the Middle East & North Africa. He is also working on several new collaborative projects while touring to promote his solo work. Abid Tounssi, known by his stage name Salah Edin (born 23 June 1980), is a Dutch Moroccan ex-rapper and actor. Biography Salah Edin gained recognition as a rapper (first in Arabic, then also in Dutch) in the 1990s and broke through to a larger audience in 2006 when he signed with Dutch hip hop label TopNotch.
