''The Still Life'' is the third album by Alessi's Ark. The album was produced by Andy LeMaster in his studio in Athens, Georgia Athens is a consolidated city-county in the U.S. state of Georgia (U.S. state), Georgia. The University of Georgia, the state's flagship public university and an Research I university, ... over a three-week period and Nic Nell in his London studio. It features 12 songs written by Laurent-Marke, including re-recordings of two songs (Money and Pinewoods) from the Rough Trade bonus CD that came with her debut album Notes from the Treehouse, and a cover of The National's Afraid of Everyone. It was released on 15 April 2013 in the UK and on 30 April 2013 in the US. Plug in Music praised the album, calling it "a rich 13-song collection, imbued with a reflective sparkle by young singer/songwriter Alessi Laurent-Marke". Alessi's Ark
Alessi's Ark is the musical project of Alessi Laurent-Marke (born 30 June 1990), an English singer-songwriter. Career Named after the Italian design company, Alessi Laurent-Marke grew up in Hammersmith, London where her father, Alan Marke, is a television producer who has worked on TV shows such as Modern Toss, Snuff Box and Shooting Stars and is also the managing director of TV production company Channel X. She first became interested in music when her mother gave her a copy of Graham Nash's 1971 album ''Songs for Beginners''. She took up the drums at the age of 11 when her secondary school required students to take up an instrument, her choice inspired by seeing drummer Meg White perform with the White Stripes at a concert at Alexandra Palace. Her drum teacher played locally in different bands and through this she began going to see him and various bands live with her dad, sometimes going to as many as four shows a week. Aaron Brooking Dessner (born April 23, 1976) is an American musician. Matt Berninger
Matthew Donald Berninger (, born February 13, 1971) is an American singer, primarily known as the frontman and lyricist of indie rock band The National. In 2014, he also formed the EL VY project with Brent Knopf of Ramona Falls and Menomena. They released the album '' Return to the Moon'' in November 2015. In May 2020, Berninger issued the title track from his solo debut album, '' Serpentine Prison'', released in October 2020. His second solo album, '' Get Sunk'', was released on May 30, 2025. Berninger is known for his classic baritone voice. Early and personal life Berninger is a 1989 graduate of St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. The National (band)
The National is an American rock music, rock band from Cincinnati, Ohio, formed in Brooklyn, New York City, in 1999. The band consists of Matt Berninger (vocals), twin brothers Aaron Dessner (guitar, piano, keyboards) and Bryce Dessner (guitar, piano, keyboards), as well as brothers Scott Devendorf (bass) and Bryan Devendorf (drums). Notes From The Treehouse
''Notes from the Treehouse'' is the debut studio album by the British singer-songwriter Alessi Laurent-Marke, otherwise known as Alessi's Ark, released in 2009. It was produced by Mike Mogis of Bright Eyes and recorded at his studio in Omaha, Nebraska. Rough Trade also exclusively sold the album with a limited edition CD that included four acoustic tracks of songs not on the album, including a cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Simple Man" and came in a sleeve with artwork by Laurent-Marke. This limited edition CD was recorded by Ben Lovett of Mumford & Sons. The track "Memory Box" was premiered in an episode of the FOX television series ''Dollhouse''. The album was released in the US for the first time on 18 September 2012. The release was preceded by a competition on Alessi's Ark's website and Facebook page to design a new cover for the US version of the album, which was won by Evalie Wagner.
