Junior Mints are a candy brand consisting of small rounds of mint filling inside a semi-sweet chocolate coating, with a dimple on one side. The mints are produced by Tootsie Roll Industries, and packaged in varying amounts from the so-called 'fun-size box' to the much larger 12 oz. box. History Junior Mints were introduced in 1949 by the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based James O. Welch Company. East Cambridge is a neighborhood of Cambridge, Massachusetts. East Cambridge is bounded by the Charles River and the Charlestown, Boston, Charlestown neighborhood of Boston on the east, the Somerville, Massachusetts, Somerville border on the north, Broadway and Main Street on the south, and the Grand Junction Railroad and Depot Company, railroad tracks on the west. Wellington-Harrington, also known as Area 3, is a neighborhood in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Overlapping with Inman Square and Kendall Square, it is bounded by Hampshire Street and Broadway on the southwest, the Grand Junction railroad tracks on the east, and the Somerville town line on the north. Though primarily residential, the neighborhood includes commercial areas along Cambridge Street and in the One Kendall Square plaza in the southeast. Denise Simmons
E. Denise Simmons (born October 2, 1951) is the mayor of Cambridge, Massachusetts, having served her first mayoral term 2008–2009, her second mayoral term 2016–2017, and her third mayoral term 2024–present. She is the first openly lesbian African-American mayor in the United States. Simmons has been on the Cambridge City Council continuously since 2002, now serving her twelfth consecutive term. Niagara Movement
The Niagara Movement (NM) was a civil rights organization founded in 1905 by a group of activists—many of whom were among the vanguard of African-American lawyers in the United States—led by W. E. B. Du Bois and William Monroe Trotter. The Niagara Movement was organized to oppose racial segregation and disenfranchisement. Its members felt the policy of accommodation and conciliation, without voting rights, promoted by Booker T. Washington, was "unmanly." It was named for the "mighty current" of change the group wanted to effect and took Niagara Falls as its symbol. The group did not meet in Niagara Falls, New York, but planned its first conference for nearby Buffalo during the week of July 9, 1905. Squirrel Nut Zippers is an American swing and jazz band formed in 1993 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, by James "Jimbo" Mathus (vocals and guitar), Tom Maxwell (vocals and guitar), Katharine Whalen (vocals, banjo, ukulele), Chris Phillips (drums), Don Raleigh (bass guitar), and Ken Mosher. Squirrel Nut Caramels (chocolate flavored) and Squirrel Nut Zippers (vanilla flavored) were chewy caramel candy mixed with peanuts. Description Chocolate Squirrel caramels were the original flavor of Squirrel Nut brand caramels. The ingredients are: corn syrup, sugar, peanuts, condensed milk, chocolate, partially hydrogenated soybean and/or cottonseed oil, natural & artificial flavor, salt, and soy lecithin. Squirrel Nut Zippers, the vanilla nut caramel variety, were developed in the mid-1920s to complement the chocolate variety. Squirrel Nut Zippers contained peanuts and were sometimes passed out at performances by a band that shared the same name of Squirrel Nut Zippers.
