The Night And Day Café
The Night & Day Café is a café bar and live music venue in Manchester, England. Location It is located in the city's Northern Quarter on Oldham Street, opposite Piccadilly Records. It is near the Afflecks palace shopping arcade and a few minutes' walk from the Market Street/ Arndale Centre shopping areas. History The Night & Day opened in 1991 in a former chip shop in what was (at the time) one of the more desolate parts of town. First owned by Jan Oldenburg, it slowly developed into a music venue and gained a reputation for pioneering live music and supporting alternative bands. When the venue faced the threat of closure Elbow’s Guy Garvey told radio station XFM that the venue had been crucial to his band's career and that it deserved protected status and a blue plaque. Manic Street Preachers
Manic Street Preachers, also known simply as the Manics, are a Wales, Welsh Rock music, rock band formed in Blackwood, Caerphilly, in 1986. The band consists of Nicky Wire (bass guitar, lyrics) and cousins James Dean Bradfield (lead vocals, lead guitar) and Sean Moore (musician), Sean Moore (drums, percussion, soundscapes). They form a key part of the 1990s Welsh Cool Cymru cultural movement. Following the release of their debut single "Suicide Alley" in 1988, Manic Street Preachers became a quartet with the addition of Richey Edwards as co-lyricist and rhythm guitarist. Charlie Hieronymous Pace is a fictional character on ABC's '' Lost'', a television series chronicling the lives of plane crash survivors on a mysterious tropical island. Timothy Allan Burgess (born 30 May 1967) is an English musician, best known as the lead singer of the alternative rock band the Charlatans. Early life Burgess was born in Worsley, Lancashire, but grew up in Moulton, Cheshire, where he moved when he was five. He went to Leftwich High School. He left school at sixteen, and worked for the ICI overseas distribution department at Runcorn. Career The Charlatans Burgess was initially the lead singer in The Electric Crayons (named after the psychedelic compilation album ''The Electric Crayon Set'', released on the Bam-Caruso record label), who released one single, "Hip Shake Junkie". Burgess then joined the Charlatans, who were largely influenced by acid house, 1960s-era West Coast psychedelia and the Syd Barrett era of Pink Floyd.
