The Jungle, formerly known as the IUPUI Gymnasium, is a 1,215-seat multi-purpose arena on the campus of Indiana University Indianapolis in Indianapolis. It has hosted the IU Indy Jaguars men's basketball team since 2024, and has continuously hosted the women's basketball and volleyball teams since 1982. The IU Indy Jaguars are the 18 intercollegiate teams that represent Indiana University Indianapolis, in Indianapolis, Indiana, U.S. They compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's NCAA Division I, Division I. The teams were established by Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). The Jaguars were originally known as the IUPUI Metros. History IUPUI first sponsored intercollegiate athletics in 1972, when the men's college basketball, basketball team began play as the IUPUI Metros. The IU Indy Jaguars men's basketball team is the men's basketball team that represents Indiana University Indianapolis in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States. IU Indy assumed its current identity on July 1, 2024, when the Indiana University and Purdue University systems dissolved the former Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). The IU Indy Jaguars women's basketball team is the women's basketball team that represented Indiana University Indianapolis in Indianapolis, IN, United States through the 2023–24 season. Going forward, the team will represent Indiana University Indianapolis (IU Indianapolis or IUI), which will start operation when the Indiana University and Purdue University systems dissolve IUPUI at the end of the 2023–24 school year. Corteva Coliseum
The Corteva Coliseum is a 6,500-seat indoor multi-use arena, located on the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. It was originally called the Indiana State Fairgrounds Coliseum and later the Pepsi Coliseum, Fairgrounds Coliseum, and Indiana Farmers Coliseum. History Originally opened in 1939 as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's Works Progress Administration (part of the New Deal), the Coliseum has hosted numerous historical events, including the only performances ever held in Indiana by The Beatles, in 1964. 1963 gas explosion On October 31, 1963, during a Holiday on Ice show, a liquefied petroleum gas leak at a concession stand caused an explosion which killed 81 people and injured around 400 others.
