The Infinity Project
The Infinity Project (TIP) was a British 1990s goa trance band. Members included Raja Ram, Graham Wood and Anjee Sian, with Simon Posford occasionally working with them. Goa Trance
Goa trance is an electronic dance music style that originated in the early 1990s in the Indian state of Goa. Goa trance often has drone-like basslines, similar to the techno minimalism of 21st century psychedelic trance (psytrance). Psychedelic trance developed from Goa trance. The typically long songs built on progressive beat changes are said to put the listener in a “trance”. History The music has its roots in the popularity of Goa, India as a hippie capital in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Throughout the 1980s, music incorporating elements of industrial music, new beat and electronic body music (EBM), with the spiritual culture in India were commonplace, although Goa trance did not appear as a style until the early 1990s. Raja Ram (musician)
Raja Ram (born Ronald Gary Rothfield, 18 December 1940) is an Australian-born musician and the owner of the United Kingdom record label Tip World. He was a founding member of the psychedelic rock band Quintessence in the late 1960s and early 1970s, playing at the first two Glastonbury Fayres in 1970 and 1971. He later found success in the psychedelic trance scene and continues to headline at large events worldwide. Early life Ram left Australia in the 1950s to begin the hippie trail. He returned to Australia later and studied flute at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. Ram travelled to New York in 1965 to study jazz, leading to his career as a psychedelic musician. Ram retired from Quintessence in the 1970s for personal reasons and became an envelope salesman. Ram later returned to his music career, finding success in the emerging genre of electronic music. Simon Posford
Simon Posford (born 28 October 1971), better known by his stage name Hallucinogen, is an English electronic musician, specializing in psychedelic trance music. His first studio album, '' Twisted'', released in 1995, is considered one of the most influential albums in the genre. His second album, '' The Lone Deranger'', was released in 1997. A third album consisting of Hallucinogen tracks remixed by the artist Ott, ''In Dub'', was released in 2002. He is also the founder of the label Twisted Records and works in the electronic groups Younger Brother and Shpongle. Younger Brother initially began as a side project of Posford and Benji Vaughan and represented a transition away from previous projects which emphasized a more synthesized style. His grandfather, George Posford, was a composer and producer in the United Kingdom in the 1930s. Man With No Name (musician)
Martin Freeland is a British psytrance artist, record producer and DJ, who has performed under the pseudonym of Man With No Name since 1990. He is best known for the singles "Teleport" and "Floor-Essence", both of which appeared in the UK Singles Chart. Music career Early work: 1985–1993 Freeland's career began in the mid 1980s, working as a producer and remixer for various dance artists such as Belouis Some and Mirage. In the late 1980s he began producing original material under the names of Positiv Noize, Perfectly Ordinary People and Pisces, with the latter experimenting with the sound of techno with the single "Take Me Higher". In 1990 Freeland released the single "Way Out West" under the name of Man With No Name. The track sampled lines from the western film, ''The Good, the Bad and the Ugly'', and was backed with the acid house track "From Within The Mind of My 909", which was later featured on Richard Sen's 2012 compilation ''This Ain't Chicago: The Underground Sound ... Nicholas Barber (born 31 August 1968), better known by the stage name Doof,Larkin (1999) ''The Virgin Encyclopedia of Dance Music'', Virgin Books, , p. 95-6 is a British, London-based psychedelic trance musician. Doof's first official release was in 1993 with NovaMute, the dance label run by Mute Records, a three-track EP titled "Disposable Hymns to the Infinite". It was through Novamute label-mates Juno Reactor and Ben Watkins that Doof was first introduced to producer Youth (of Killing Joke/ Brilliant), Simon Posford, also known as Hallucinogen, and the Dragonfly Records label. Doof went on to release "Double Dragons" as a 12" with Dragonfly in 1994, and to produce a series of tracks in partnership with Simon Posford, including "Let's Turn On", "Born Again" and "Angelic Particles".
