Tensta Konsthall
Tensta konsthall is a center for contemporary art in the Stockholm suburb of Tensta, northwest of the city center. The gallery works with artists from both Sweden and abroad, often in conjunction with local associations and organizations in the area. Artists who have exhibited in the gallery include Tris Vonna-Michell, Iman Issa, Shirin Neshat, International Festival, Marie-Louise Ekman, Diana Thater, and Oda Projesi. History Tensta konsthall was inaugurated in 1998, the same year that Stockholm was the European Cultural Capital. The gallery is a result of a local grassroots initiative, which coincided with the “Outer Suburb Project,” a Stockholm municipal investment in particular suburbs. The founder of Tensta konsthall was the artist and social worker Gregor Wroblewski. Spånga-Tensta is a borough (''stadsdelsområde'') located in Västerort in the western part of Stockholm, Sweden. The districts that make up the borough are Bromsten, Flysta, Lunda, Solhem, Sundby and Tensta. A large portion of Järvafältet is also located in Spånga-Tensta as well as in the districts of Akalla and Husby in neighboring Rinkeby-Kista borough. The borough includes of the community of Spånga. Million Programme
The Million Programme ( sv, Miljonprogrammet) was an ambitious public housing program implemented in Sweden between 1965 and 1974 by the governing Swedish Social Democratic Party to ensure the availability of affordable, high quality housing to all Swedish citizens. The program sought to construct one million new housing dwellings over a ten-year period, which it accomplished. As part of its intention to modernize Swedish housing, it also demolished many older buildings that national and local governments considered obsolescent, unhealthy or derelict. At the time, the intention to build one million new homes in a nation with a population of eight million made the Million Programme the most ambitious building programme in the world. Hjulsta
Hjulsta is a working-class suburb of Stockholm. It is considered being part of Tensta, but with its own subway station which was opened in 1975 and is the end station of the blue line. The modern urban area of Hjulsta took its name from an old village known to have been located in the area at least from the 1480s. The station's artwork is created by several artists, among them ''Sjöfåglar'' by Christina Rundqvist-Andersson, ''Sista skörden i norra Botkyrka'' by Olle Magnusson and ''Landbyska verken vid Engelbrektsplan år 1890'' by Ruth Rydfeldt. Victoria Kawesa
Victoria Kawesa, (born 12 April 1975) is a Swedish politician and former party leader of the Leader of Feminist Initiative. In March 2017, she was elected the leader of the party, along with Gudrun Schyman. Kawesa was the first black party leader in Swedish history. In September 2017, she resigned, citing personal reasons. Kawesa was charged and found guilty of copyright violation. She is a former lecturer at Södertörn University. Background Kawesa came to Sweden as a nine-year-old with her family who had fled from the war in Uganda, and the family resided in Tensta outside of Stockholm.
