Tena, Ecuador
Tena () is a city in the Amazon rainforest of Ecuador. It is the seat of Tena Canton, as well as the capital and largest city of Napo Province. History Tena is one of several Ecuadorian cities founded by Gil Ramírez Dávalos, a Spanish explorer and conquistador. Dávalos — who served as Governor of Quito from 1556 until 1559 — also founded the cities of Cuenca (1557), Baeza (1560) and Azogues (1562). Geography At the confluence of the Tena and Pano rivers in the center of town is located the ''Parque Amazónico La Isla'' with a pedestrian bridge, ''el Puente Espiral''. At this point the rivers become the Tena River, which soon joins with the Misahualli and eventually flows into the Napo River. Amazon River
The Amazon River (, ; es, Río Amazonas, pt, Rio Amazonas) in South America is the largest river by discharge volume of water in the world, and the disputed longest river system in the world in comparison to the Nile. The headwaters of the Apurímac River on Nevado Mismi had been considered for nearly a century as the Amazon basin's most distant source, until a 2014 study found it to be the headwaters of the Mantaro River on the Cordillera Rumi Cruz in Peru. Ahuano, Ecuador

Jumandy Airport
Jumandy Airport ( es, Aeropuerto Jumandy) is an airport serving Tena, Napo Province, Ecuador. It is west of the village of Ahuano, and about from Tena. It replaces Tena's Mayor Galo de la Torre Airport, which closed in 2001. Mayor Galo de la Torre Airport ( es, Aeropuerto Mayor Galo de la Torre) was an airport serving Tena, Napo Province, Ecuador. It closed in 2001 and was replaced by Jumandy Airport, to the east, in 2011. Sumaco
Sumaco is a symmetrical, isolated stratovolcano, that is set off from the main Ecuador volcanic axis. Its rocks are very distinct from those from most Andean volcanoes because of its lack of andesitic composition, in favour of basanite and phonolitic rock. Sumaco is heavily forested and contains a small cone in its broad summit crater. An historical eruption occurred around 1895 (± 30 years). Ecology Sumaco is isolated from the Cordillera Oriental by the lowland valley of the Cosanga and Quijos Rivers. There are more than 6000 species of vascular plants, including more than 90 endemic species. Papallacta
Papallacta is a small village at an altitude of in Napo Province, Ecuador. The village is located off the Eastern Cordilleras, on the road from Quito into the Amazon rainforest. It is known for its hot springs. How to reach The drive from Quito to Papallacta passes through several towns and villages before ascending to a pass at an elevation of over 4,000 meters. From here, mountains and glaciers are visible. Descending from the high altitude pass to Papallacta, the ecosystem shifts from alpine to tropical forests. Several hot springs are located in Papallacta. Lake Papallacta and its surrounding watershed previously provided much of the drinking water for Quito. This changed in 2003 after landslides in the region. The close proximity of the water pipeline from the lake and oil pipelines from the Amazon rainforests led to water contamination after oil leak. Rafting and whitewater rafting are recreational outdoor activities which use an inflatable raft to navigate a river or other body of water.
