Gregory Tempest (born 28 December 1993) is a Northern Irish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Carlton Town. Club career Notts County Born in Nottingham, England, Tempest started his career at Notts County when he was sixteen and was featured in the club's first team during pre-season. Robert Tempest
Robert Tempest of Holmside Hall was High Sheriff of Durham from 1558-1562. Tempest was the son of George Tempest and Eleanor, daughter of Robert Millott of Whithill, Durham. In addition to Holmside, the family held lands at Bradley, Mordon, Greatham, Kimblesworth and Potterhouse, all in County Durham. He was one of the Guardians of the Temporalities of the See of Durham (1560). He and his eldest son Michael were attainted in 1569 for having taken part in the Rising of the North. He was specially named by Thomas Radclyffe, 3rd Earl of Sussex in a proclamation dated Nov. 19, 1569.Cal. State.Papers. Dom. Pierce Tempest
Pierce Tempest (1653–1717) was an English printseller, best known for the series ''Cryes of the City of London''. Life Born at Tong, Yorkshire, in July 1653, he was the sixth son of Henry Tempest of Tong by his wife, Mary Bushall, and brother of Sir John Tempest, 1st Baronet. It is said that he was a pupil and assistant of Wenceslaus Hollar, and some of the prints which bear his name as the publisher have been assumed to be his own work; but there is no actual evidence that he ever practised engraving. Tempest died on 1 April 1717, and was buried at St. Paul's, Covent Garden, London. There is a mezzotint portrait of him by Place, after G. Heemskerk, with the motto "Cavete vobis principes", and the figure of a nonconformist minister in the ''Cryes'' is said to represent him. Marie Tempest
Dame Mary Susan Etherington (15 July 1864 – 15 October 1942), known professionally as Marie Tempest, was an English singer and actress. Tempest became a famous soprano in late Victorian era, Victorian light opera and Edwardian musical comedies. Later, she became a leading comic actress and toured widely in North America and elsewhere. She was, at times, her own theatre manager during a career spanning 55 years. She was also instrumental in the founding of the actors' union Equity (trade union), Equity in Britain. Life and career Tempest was born in London. Margaret Mary Tempest (1892–1982) was a British illustrator and author, best known for her illustrations of Alison Uttley's Little Grey Rabbit books. Life Margaret Tempest was born at 2 Fonnereau Road, Ipswich, Suffolk, in 1892. She lived most of her life in the town, attending Ipswich High School, Ipswich School of Art and then the Westminster School of Art graduating in 1914. She was co-founder of the Chelsea Illustrators Club through which former students exhibited and sold their art. Kae Tempest (formerly Kate Tempest) is an English spoken word performer, poet, recording artist, novelist and playwright. At the age of 16, Tempest was accepted into the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology in Croydon. In 2013, he won the Ted Hughes Award for his work ''Brand New Ancients''. They were named a Next Generation Poet by the Poetry Book Society, a once-a-decade accolade. Gerard Francis Tempest
Gerard Francis Tempest (February 23, 1918 – July 26, 2009) was a painter, sculptor, architect and veteran of World War II. Tempest was the father of Abstract Spiritualism and the protégé of Giorgio de Chirico, the forerunner of Surrealism. Born in San Donato Val di Comino, Italy in 1918, Tempest immigrated to the United States in 1929. He studied art as a youth at the Boston Museum School, founding his own sign-painting company at the age of 19. Drafted in 1943 as a private in the United States Army, Tempest eventually became an officer, serving under Omar Bradley in the 82nd Airborne Division. Tempest fought in campaigns in Europe, including Normandy on D-Day, the Battle of Hürtgen Forest, the Battle of the Bulge, and with the French Underground in the Liberation of Paris. The Tempest family was an English Recusancy, recusant family that originated in western Yorkshire (part of which is now eastern Lancashire) in the 12th century. Tempest baronets of Stella and Stanley, County Durham A branch of the Tempest family of Holmside, County Durham descended from Nicolas Tempest (1486–1539), described as of Stanley Byers and Stanley Parke, the fourth son of Robert Tempest and Anne Lambton of Holmside.
