Temenos () is a former municipality in the Heraklion Regional Unit, Crete, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Heraklion, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 56.608 km2. Population 3,421 (2021). The seat of the municipality was in Profitis Ilias. Paranesti
Paranesti () is a municipality in the Rhodope Mountains of northeastern Drama regional unit, Greece. It consists of two municipal units: Paranesti and Nikoforos. The largest villages of the municipal unit Paranesti are Paranésti (the municipal seat, pop. 625), Mesochório (105), Káto Thólos (123), Χágnanto (43), and Prasináda (32). The Natural History Museum of Paranesti is located in Paranesti. Transport The settlement has a railway station on the Thessaloniki–Alexandroupoli Line Paranesti lies on the Greek National Road 14 (Drama to Xanthi). Heraklion () is one of the four regional units of Greece, regional units of Crete. The capital is the city of Heraklion. Geography The regional unit of Heraklion borders on the regional units of Rethymno (regional unit), Rethymno to the west and Lasithi to the east. Profitis Ilias, Heraklion
Profitis () is a village and a community of the Volvi municipality. Before the 2011 local government reform, it was part of the municipality of Egnatia, of which it was a municipal district. The 2021 census recorded 870 inhabitants in the community. The community of Profitis covers an area of 48.806 km2. Provinces Of Greece
The provinces of Greece (, "eparchy") were sub-divisions of some the country's prefectures of Greece, prefectures. From 1887, the provinces were abolished as actual administrative units, but were retained for some state services, especially financial and educational services, as well as for electoral purposes. Before the Second World War, there were 139 provinces, and after the war, with the addition of the Dodecanese, Dodecanese Islands, their number grew to 148.
