Tell Me, Momma
Tell Me, Momma is a song written by Bob Dylan and performed exclusively during his 1966 World Tour with the Band (then known as the Hawks). It was used to introduce the second half of a concert, when Dylan switched from an acoustic solo performance to an electric performance backed by a band. The song was not recorded on a studio album, nor was it ever performed again by Dylan in concert. Dylan's May 17, 1966 live performance of the song was released in 1998 on '' The Bootleg Series Vol. 4: Bob Dylan Live 1966, The "Royal Albert Hall" Concert''. Bob Dylan
Bob Dylan (legally Robert Dylan, born Robert Allen Zimmerman, May 24, 1941) is an American singer-songwriter. Often regarded as one of the greatest songwriters of all time, Dylan has been a major figure in popular culture during a career spanning more than 60 years. Much of his most celebrated work dates from the 1960s, when songs such as " Blowin' in the Wind" (1963) and " The Times They Are a-Changin' (1964) became anthems for the civil rights and antiwar movements. Free Trade Hall
The Free Trade Hall on Peter Street, Manchester, England, was constructed in 1853–56 on St Peter's Fields, the site of the Peterloo Massacre. It is now a Radisson hotel. The hall was built to commemorate the repeal of the Corn Laws in 1846. The architect was Edward Walters. It was owned by the Manchester Corporation and was bombed in the Manchester Blitz; its interior was rebuilt and it was Manchester's premier concert venue until the construction of the Bridgewater Hall in 1996. The hall was designated a Grade II* listed building in 1963. Bob Dylan World Tour 1966
The Bob Dylan World Tour 1966 was a concert tour undertaken by American musician Bob Dylan, from February to May 1966. Dylan's 1966 World Tour was notable as the first tour where Dylan employed an electric band backing him, following him " going electric" at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival. The musicians Dylan employed as his backing band were known as The Hawks, who later became famous as The Band. Photographer Barry Feinstein (who had shot the cover of Dylan's album The Times They Are a-Changin’ in 1964) accompanied Dylan on the UK leg of the tour at the musician's behest to document the tour, both onstage and off. The 1966 tour was also filmed by director D. A. Pennebaker, and the film was edited by Dylan and Howard Alk to produce a little-seen film, ''Eat the Document'', an anarchic account of the tour. ''The 1966 Live Recordings'' is a 36-CD boxset of live recordings from the 1966 Live Tour by Bob Dylan, released on Legacy Records in November 2016. It includes every known recording from the tour, including audience tapes. Most of the set was unreleased at that point and some tapes never circulated before. Background ''The 1966 Live Recordings'' was released as a way to prevent the recordings from legally entering the public domain in Europe, in a similar fashion to ''The 50th Anniversary Collection'' (1962), ''The 50th Anniversary Collection 1963'', and ''The 50th Anniversary Collection 1964''. L'Olympia
The Olympia (; commonly known as L'Olympia or in the English-speaking world as Olympia Hall) is a concert venue in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, 9th arrondissement of Paris, France, located at 28 Boulevard des Capucines, equally distancing La Madeleine, Paris, Madeleine church and Palais Garnier, Opéra Garnier, north of Place Vendôme, Vendôme square. Eat The Document
''Eat the Document'' is a documentary of Bob Dylan's 1966 tour of parts of Europe with the Hawks. The cover photo was taken on the train line between Dublin and Belfast, near Balbriggan. It was shot under Dylan's direction by D. A. Pennebaker, whose groundbreaking documentary ''Dont Look Back'' chronicled Dylan's 1965 British tour. The film was originally commissioned for the ABC television series '' ABC Stage 67''. Though shooting had completed for the film, Dylan's July 1966 motorcycle accident delayed the editing process. Once well enough to work again, Dylan edited the film himself. ABC rejected the film as incomprehensible for a mainstream audience. It has never been released on home video and prints are rarely screened in theaters. Some footage filmed for ''Eat the Document'' was used in Martin Scorsese's 2005 documentary on Bob Dylan, '' No Direction Home'', and 3 song excerpts are special features on the DVD.
