Technical University of Kaiserslautern (German: ''Technische Universität Kaiserslautern'', also known as TU Kaiserslautern or TUK) was a public research university in Kaiserslautern, Germany. On January 1, 2023, the university was merged with the Landau campus of the University of Koblenz-Landau into the University of Kaiserslautern-Landau, or Rheinland-Pfälzische Technische Universität Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU) in German. There are numerous institutes around the university, including two Fraunhofer Institutes ( and ), the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems (MPI SWS), the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), the Institute for Composite Materials (IVW) and the Institute for Surface and Thin Film Analysis (IFOS), all of which cooperate closely with the university. The AEGEE, or ' (literally: ''Association of States General of Students of Europe''), known as European Students' Forum in English, is one of the largest transnational, interdisciplinary student organisation in Europe. Formula Student is a student engineering competition held annually. Student teams from around the world design, build, test, and race a small-scale formula style racing car. The cars are judged on a number of criteria. It is run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and uses the same rules as the original Formula SAE with supplementary regulations. Class definitions There are three entry classes in Formula Student, designed to allow progressive learning. Formula Student Class (formerly Class 1) This is the main event, where teams compete with the cars they have designed and built.
