Tayakadın is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Arnavutköy, Istanbul Province, Turkey. Its population is 2,951 (2022). It was located in Çatalca until 1972, after which it was reassigned to GaziosmanpaÅŸa in 1972 before being transferred to Arnavutköy in 2008. GaziosmanpaÅŸa (; old name: ''TaÅŸlıtarla'') is a developing working class municipality ( belediye) and district of Istanbul, Turkey, on its European side. Its area is 12 km2, and its population is 495,998 (2022). Esenler and BayrampaÅŸa are west, Sultangazi is north and Eyüp is south and east of the district. History The district was named after Gazi Osman Pasha (1832–1900), a prominent Ottoman general who was active in the Balkans. The area was empty, rocky pasture until the 1950s when immigrants from the Balkans (especially from Bulgaria, Yugoslavia and Western Thrace) settled here. ''Star'' (''Star Gazetesi'') was a high-circulation Turkish newspaper. It was established in 1999 by Star Media Group, drawing on the brand of the group's Star TV channel. At the end of 2019, the newspaper ceased its print publication, announcing it would continue news coverage online.
