Tatran Střešovice
Tatran Střešovice is a floorball club based in Prague, Czech Republic. The team was founded in 1991. The men's team has played in the highest Czech floorball league, Superliga florbalu, since its foundation in 1993. Until the 2011–12 season, the team was the dominant team of the league, winning all titles, except for the 1995–96, 1996–97, 1999–00, and 2008–09 seasons. Overall, the team won 18 titles, the last time in 2023–24 season. It makes it the most successful Czech men floorball team. In 2024, Tatran won Champions Cup as the first Czech team in the history, when they beat Swedish IBF Falun in the finals. Women's team also play the highest Czech floorball league, Extraliga žen ve florbale. The team won the first five seasons of the league. The club organizes Czech Open, one of the largest international floorball tournaments. Superliga florbalu (also Livesport Superliga) is the highest league in the league system of Czech Republic, Czech men's floorball and comprises the top 14 Czech floorball teams. The season culminates in a play-off played by the best ten teams. The first season began in 1993–94. The champion of the league is eligible to compete at the Champions Cup (floorball), Champions Cup. Extraliga žen ve florbale (also ČEZ Extraliga) is the highest league in the league system of Czech women's floorball and comprises the top 11 Czech floorball teams. Champions Cup (floorball)
The Champions Cup is floorball tournament organized by the International Floorball Federation for the best clubs from the top four countries according to IFF World Ranking. Since 2019, those are Sweden, the Czech Republic, Finland and Switzerland, both for men and women. The tournament culminates every year in January both for men's and women's teams, that won in the previous season in their national league and cup competitions. That means, there are eight men's and eight women's teams in the tournament in total. In various formats, the tournament took place 30 times, the last time in 2025. The first tournament was played in 1993. The new format with eight teams is used since 2024. Swedes won most titles, 24 in men's and 25 in women's tournaments. Among the teams, Sweden's IBF Falun are the most successful with five wins in the men's category and IKSU with seven in the women's. Floorball
Floorball (also known by other names) is a sport played with five players and a goalkeeper in each team. It is played indoors with sticks and a hollow plastic ball with holes. Matches are played in three periods. The sport of bandy also played a role in the game's development. The game was invented in Sweden in the late 1960s. The basic rules were established in 1979 when the first floorball club in the world, Sala IBK, from Sala, was founded in Sweden. Official rules for matches were first written down in 1981. The sport is organized internationally by the International Floorball Federation (IFF). As of 2019, there were about 377,000 registered floorball players worldwide, up from around 300,000 in 2014. The International Floorball Federation (IFF) is the worldwide governing body for the sport of floorball. It was founded on 12 April 1986 in Huskvarna, Sweden, by representatives from the national floorball associations of Finland, Sweden and Switzerland. It is based in Helsinki, Finland. The president of the federation is Filip Šuman. The federation became a member of Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) in 2000. IBF Falun
IBF Falun is a Swedish floorball club based in the city of Falun, founded in 1993. The men's team has competed in the Swedish Super League since the 2004–05 season and has won the league championship seven times. They claimed their first title in 2012–13 and most recently won in 2021–22. The team also holds a record five Champions Cup victories, winning for the first time in 2012–13 and most recently in 2022–23. The women's team has also competed in the Swedish Super League since the 2020–21 season. Previously, they played in the top division from its inception in 1993–94 until the 2015–16 season. Radio Prague International () is the official international broadcasting station of the Czech Republic. Broadcasting first began on 31 August 1936 near the spa town of Poděbrady. Czech Open (floorball)
Czech Open is an international floorball tournament. It takes place every year in August in Prague, Czech Republic. It is one of the largest floorball tournaments in the world. Every year over 200 teams from around the world participate. The first season was played in 1993. The tournament is organized by Prague floorball club Tatran Střešovice. There are seven categories in the tournament. Both men and women have three categories (Elite, Pro and Open) and juniors have one. Czech teams have a number of places reserved, which are assigned according to standings of the teams in Czech floorball leagues (such as Superliga florbalu or Extraliga žen ve florbale).
