Tatarstan, officially the Republic of Tatarstan, sometimes also called Tataria, is a Republics of Russia, republic of Russia located in Eastern Europe. It is a part of the Volga Federal District; and its capital city, capital and largest city is Kazan, an important cultural centre in Russia. The region's main source of wealth is Petroleum, oil with a strong Petrochemical industry, petrochemical industry. Volga Tatars
The Volga Tatars or simply Tatars (; ) are a Turkic ethnic group native to the Volga-Ural region of western Russia. They are subdivided into various subgroups. Volga Tatars are the second-largest ethnic group in Russia after ethnic Russians. Most of them live in the republics of Tatarstan and Bashkortostan. Their native language is Tatar, a language of the Turkic language family. The predominant religion is Sunni Islam, followed by Orthodox Christianity. "Tatar" as an ethnonym owns a very long and complicated history and in the past was often used as an umbrella term for different Turkic and Mongolic tribes. The Head of the Republic of Tatarstan (; ), formerly known as the President of the Republic of Tatarstan (1991–2023, ), is the head of the republic and the highest-ranking official of Tatarstan, a federal subject of Russia. The office was established in 1991. Title In 2017, following the expiration of the 1994 agreement between Moscow and Kazan which granted Tatarstan substantial autonomy, the title of ''president'' was expected to be replaced with ''head'', as it was done with other republics in Russia. State Anthem Of The Republic Of Tatarstan
The State Anthem of the Republic of Tatarstan was composed by Tatar musician Röstäm Yaxin and was first adopted in 1993 without lyrics. 20 years later, lyrics written by were made official. Lyrics Current version On 21 February 2013, the Parliament of Tatarstan unanimously approved lyrics written by Baytimerov. The final lyrics of the anthem is based on the poem «Туган ягым» ('Native Land') by Ramazan Baytimerov, as is known from a story written by him in the 1970s. Many unknown authors took part in the revision of the poems. Baytimerov's poems inspired the composer Röstäm Yaxin to compose a song, the melody of which became the national anthem of Tatarstan in 1993. Tatar ( ; or ) is a Turkic languages, Turkic language spoken by the Volga Tatars mainly located in modern Tatarstan (European Russia), as well as Siberia. It should not be confused with Crimean Tatar language, Crimean Tatar or Siberian Tatar language, Siberian Tatar, which are closely related but belong to different subgroups of the Kipchak languages.
