Taras (name)
Taras () is a male Ukrainians, Ukrainian given name especially popular in Ukraine. In Greek mythology, Taras (Ancient Greek: Τάρας) was the eponymous founder of the ancient Greece, Greek colony of Taras (Tarentum, modern Taranto), in Magna Graecia (today South Italy). The name was later modified in Byzantium after Saint Tarasios (also Saint Tarasius; ). Saint Tarasios's feast day is on the Calendar of Saints, celebrated on February 25 by the Eastern Orthodox and Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church churches, and on February 18 by the Roman Catholic Church. (This date on the Julian Calendar at present corresponds to March 10 on the Gregorian calendar). Terry Bidiak (born 20 June 1945) is a Canadian former soccer player who played as a midfielder. Career Bidiak played at the youth level with Toronto Ukraina, and played with the senior team in 1960 in the National Soccer League. In 1964, he played at the college levelwith Michigan State University. In 1967, he signed a contract with Detroit Cougars of the United Soccer Association. In 1971, he signed with the Toronto Metros of the North American Soccer League. In July, 1971 the Metros loaned Bidiak to the Toronto Hellas of the National Soccer League. Taras Filenko ( Ukrainian: Тарас Філенко) (born 1 October 1958) is an ethnomusicologist, lecturer, and concert pianist most renowned for his research and proliferation of Ukrainian music history of 19th and early 20th centuries. Dr. Filenko’s findings are presented in his Ph.D. dissertation from the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine (1989), his second Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology from University of Pittsburgh (1998), and '' The World of Mykola Lysenko'' book in English (2000) and Ukrainian (2009). Taras Ferley
Taras Demeter Ferley (October 14, 1882—July 27, 1947) was a publisher and politician in Manitoba, Canada. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1915 to 1920 as a supporter of the Liberal Party, and is notable as the first Ukrainian Canadian to be elected to Manitoba's legislature. Ferley was born in Austro-Hungarian controlled Ukraine, and educated at the Kolomyja Gymnasium and Lemberg University. In Ukraine, he was a member of the Radical Party. He moved to San Francisco, California in 1903, and took part in a communal living experiment which ended in failure after a few months. Taras Fedorovych (pseudonym, Taras Triasylo, Hassan Tarasa, Assan Trasso) (, ) (died after 1636) was a prominent leader of the Dnieper Cossacks, a popular Hetman (Cossack leader) elected by unregistered Cossacks.
