Tarapith Rampurhat Development Authority
The Tarapith Rampurhat Development Authority (TRDA) is the statutory body responsible for planning and development in the Maa Tara temple area at Tarapith and the Rampurhat city region in West Bengal, India. It was formed in 2015 and works under the Department of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Government of West Bengal. The TRDA office is situated in the Birbhum Zilla Parishad Building, near Tarapith Police Station, P.O. Tarapith, District Birbhum, PIN – 731233. History The Tarapith Rampurhat Development Authority (TRDA) was formed in 2015 to oversee the development of the Rampurhat Municipality and 56 mouzas as its designated planning area. Firhad Hakim
Firhad Hakim (born 1 January 1959) is an Indian politician serving since 2018 as the 38th mayor of Kolkata. He is also the Cabinet Minister of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs and Housing in the Government of West Bengal. He is a MLA of the Trinamool Congress Party from Kolkata Port and a member of National Working Committee of All India Trinamool Congress. Hakim was elected to the West Bengal Legislative Assembly in 2009. Two years later, he became a cabinet minister in the Mamata Banerjee ministry. In December 2018, he was appointed mayor after Sovan Chatterjee resigned. Personal life Hakim's grandfather migrated from the Gaya district of Bihar to Kolkata and started his business. Tarapith Temple
Tarapith Temple is a 13th century Hindu temple in Tarapith, Birbhum, West Bengal in India, dedicated to the Hindu goddess Tara (Mahavidya), Tara,the second mahavidya among the Mahavidya, Mahavidyas in Hinduism. It is one of the 51 ''Sati Pithas'' in India. As per the Devi Bhagavata Purana, Kalika Purana, Markandeya Purana and Shakti Peetha Stotram, the third eye of Sati (Hindu goddess), Goddess Sati fell here, after Lord Vishnu's Sudarshan Chakra splintered her body into many parts to calm down Shiva, Mahadev's rage, during his cosmic dance. Vashistha, Vashishta Muni, who first saw it, started worshipping there and the place was later developed into a temple. Mallarpur is a census town in Mayureswar I CD Block in Rampurhat subdivision of Birbhum district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Etymology The name Mallarpur had come from Malla kings. Probably, it has some connection with the great Malla king Veer Hambir. Geography Location Four separate villages called Amba, Fatehpur, Bahina and Mallarpur merged to form a small town Mallarpur. A glimpse of the past As one drives to Mallarpur, off the now busy highway, one will see a grand old ruin dominating the landscape for miles around. This is the Kacheri Baari or the Court House. Built in the late 18th century, this building must have been stunning in its heydays.
