Taiwanese Localism Front
The Taiwanese Localism Front (島民抗中聯合, lit. "Islanders' Anti-China Coalition") or simply TLF (島抗) is an anti-communist secret society formed in Taiwan in 2016 and a resistance organization against the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), with membership of Taiwanese people, Hongkongers and Inner Mongolians. In October 2017, the TLF published an open letter written and typed by a local Mongolian resistance league member in Bayannur, Inner Mongolia, which sparked discussion in Tai ...

Vanguard Party
Vanguardism, a core concept of Leninism, is the idea that a revolutionary vanguard party, composed of the most conscious and disciplined workers, must lead the proletariat in overthrowing capitalism and establishing socialism, ultimately progressing to communism. The vanguard works to engage the working class in revolutionary politics and to strengthen proletarian political power against the bourgeoisie. This theory generally serves as a rationale for the leading role of the Communist party, often enshrined in the constitution if the party attains state power. Foundations Vladimir Lenin popularised political vanguardism as conceptualised by Karl Kautsky, detailing his thoughts in one of his earlier works, '' What is to be done?''. Lenin argued that Marxism's complexity and the hostility of the establishment (the autocratic, semi-feudal state of Imperial Russia) required that a close-knit group of individuals pulled from the working class vanguard to safeguard the revoluti ...

Peace Through Strength
"Peace through strength" is a phrase that suggests that military power can help preserve peace. It has been used by many leaders from Roman Emperor Hadrian in the second century AD to former US President Ronald Reagan in the 1980s. The concept has long been associated with realpolitik. The idea has critics, with Andrew Bacevich stating, Peace through strength' easily enough becomes 'peace through war. History The phrase and the concept date to ancient times. Roman Emperor Hadrian (AD 76–138) is said to have sought "peace through strength or, failing that, peace through threat." Hadrian's Wall was a symbol of the policy. United States The first US president, George Washington, enunciated a policy of peace through strength in his fifth annual message to Congress, the 1793 State of the Union Address. He said: There is a rank due to the United States among nations which will be withheld, if not absolutely lost, by the reputation of weakness. If we desire to avoid insult, we mu ...

Hong Kong Nationalism
Hong Kong nationalism ( or ) is a system of thought that spans the folklore, culture, history, geography, society, and politics of Hong Kong. It reflects a strong desire to protect democracy in Hong Kong, to oppose mainlandization, and to preserve local Hong Kong identity. As such, many Hong Kong nationalists are opposed to Chinese state nationalism (中國國家主義). Hong Kong nationalism is generally considered a new phenomenon. The self-identification of the Hong Kong people became considered as nationalism when local discourse developed claims of self-determination, autonomy and varying degrees of separation from China. History Tens of thousands of people moved to Hong Kong in 1949 to escape the Chinese Communist Revolution. The population of Hong Kong increased from 1.8 million in 1947 to 2.2 million in 1951. As many mainland Chinese fled to Hong Kong over the next 30 years, the population of Hong Kong increased by 1 million every 10 years. Those who experienced hung ...
