Tura (river)
The Tura (; ), also known as Dolgaya (Long River, ), is a historically important Siberian river which flows eastward from the central Ural Mountains into the Tobol, a part of the Ob (river), Ob basin. The main town on it is Tyumen. Description From about 1600 to 1750 the Tura was the main entry point into Siberia. Yermak Timofeyevich (, ; 1532 (supposedly) – August 5 or 6, 1585) was a Cossack ataman who started the Russian conquest of Siberia during the reign of the Russian tsar Ivan the Terrible.
