Sword
A sword is an edged, bladed weapon intended for manual cutting or thrusting. Its blade, longer than a knife or dagger, is attached to a hilt and can be straight or curved. A thrusting sword tends to have a straighter blade with a pointed tip. A slashing sword is more likely to be curved and to have a sharpened cutting edge on one or both sides of the blade. Many swords are designed for both thrusting and slashing. The precise definition of a sword varies by historical epoch and geographic region. Sam Lee-Arthur Sword (born December 9, 1974) is a former American football player. A native of Saginaw, Michigan, Sword played college football as a linebacker for the University of Michigan from 1995 to 1998. He was the leading tackler on the undefeated 1997 Michigan Wolverines football team that led the country in scoring defense and total defense and was ranked #1 in the final AP Poll. He led Michigan in tackles for three consecutive years, and his 265 solo tackles ranks third in school history. Sword also played four seasons of professional football as a linebacker and on special teams in the National Football League (NFL) for the Oakland Raiders in 1999 and for the Indianapolis Colts from 2000 to 2002. Kyle Swords (Swordsy) is a retired American soccer defender who played professionally in the USL A-League and National Professional Soccer League. Swords was born in Dayton, Ohio. He attended Wayne High School (class of 1992) in the Dayton suburb of Huber Heights and was an inaugural member of the Wayne Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002. Swords attended James Madison University, playing on the men’s soccer team from 1992 to 1996. In 1997, he turned professional with the expansion Hershey Wildcats in the USISL A-League. Kevin Robert Swords (born July 1, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois) is a former USA international rugby player. The 6’7", 260 lb, lock, ''Sports Illustrated'' Athlete of the Month, who at the time of his retirement was the most-capped US Eagle in history, won 36 caps between 1985 and 1994 and was tapped to play for the world-renowned Barbarians. The Suit of Swords is one of the four suits of the Minor Arcana in a 78-card cartomantic tarot deck. It is derived from the suit used in Latin suited playing cards, such Spanish, Italian and Latin-suited tarot decks. ''The Sword of Moses'' is the title of an apocryphal Jewish book of magic edited by Moses Gaster in Israel, in 1896 from a 13th- or 14th-century manuscript from his own collection, formerly MS Gaster 78, now London, British Library MS Or. 10678.
