Stureplan is a public square in central Stockholm, between Norrmalm and Östermalm. The square connects the major streets Kungsgatan, Birger Jarlsgatan and Sturegatan. The buildings around the square house offices of banks and other financial institutions, as well as several corporate headquarters. Some of the country's most famous and expensive restaurants and bars are located in the area around Stureplan. Some examples are Sturehof, Spy Bar, Riche, Laroy, Hell's Kitchen, East and Sturecompagniet. Shops in the area include Versace, Hugo Boss, Gucci, and LV. In Sweden, Stureplan has also become a well-known symbol for exclusivity since the major refurbishments during the 1980s. Sturehof
Sturehof is a seafood and shellfish restaurant located on the Stureplan in central Stockholm, Sweden. History The origins of the restaurant are generally traced to 1897, when Ernst Marcus opened a beer bar called Malta in the building. However, another establishment had been located on the same premises since 1887, which explains why Sturehof celebrated its 130th anniversary in 2017. The name Sturehof was adopted in 1905, and the restaurant was run by the Marcus family until 1976. It now belongs to Svenska Brasserier, a restaurant company that operates a few establishments on and around the Stureplan. Sturehof has always specialised in serving fish and shellfish, but its standards have fluctuated with times. Long considered a beer bar, it is now praised for its wine list and has welcomed such celebrities as Bill Clinton, John Bon Jovi and John Kerry. Birger Jarlsgatan
Birger Jarlsgatan is one of the longest streets in central Stockholm, Sweden. The street forms the border between Östermalm and the two neighbouring districts Norrmalm and Vasastaden. It is named after Birger Jarl since 1885, then "Birger Jarls gata" (''gata'' meaning "street"). The contemporary spelling has been used since 1932. Stureplan and Balettakademien are situated on Birger Jarlsgatan. Östermalmstorg Metro Station
Östermalmstorg metro station is station on the red line of the Stockholm metro, located in the district of Östermalm. The station was opened on 16 May 1965 as the 59th station in the Stockholm system as the north terminus of the extension from T-Centralen. On 2 September 1967, the line was extended northeast to Ropsten. On 30 September 1973, another extension, north to Tekniska högskolan, was opened. The platform is approximately below the surface. It is located in the city center, making it one of the most-used stations in the system, with approximately 38,550 people travelling from the station on an average workday. Kungsgatan, Stockholm
Kungsgatan (Swedish for "King's Street") is a street address in central Stockholm. It was formerly a red-light district and is currently a busy shopping street. At its western end it is connected to Kungsholmen by Kungsbron bridge, from where it stretches east to Stureplan public square. It is intercepted by the streets Vasagatan, Drottninggatan, and Sveavägen. Two streets pass over it: Malmskillnadsgatan on Malmskillnadsbron bridge and Regeringsgatan on the Bridge of Regeringsgatan. Kungsgatan passes by Hötorget public square where Stockholm Concert Hall is located. It is also flanked by two buildings, the ''Kungstorn'' (King's towers), each about 60 metres tall. Östermalmstorg
Östermalmstorg is a square in the district of Östermalm, in Stockholm, Sweden. It is known principal for Östermalm Market Hall (''Östermalmshallen'') which first opened in 1889. Östermalmshallen's interior is a marketplace for food and related delicacies. Östermalmstorg was also the location of the first Åhléns department store which opened in 1932. Humlegården
Humlegården is a major park in the district of Östermalm in Stockholm, Sweden. The park borders on Karlavägen in the north, Sturegatan in the east, Humlegårdsgatan in the south and Engelbrektsgatan in the west.
