''Studia Iranica'' is a biannual peer-reviewed academic journal covering Iranian and Persianate society, Persianate History of Iran, history, Persian literature, literature, and society published by Peeters (publishing company), Peeters Publishers on behalf of the Association for the Advancement of Iranian Studies. The editors-in-chief are Marcel Bazin (University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne) and Rémy Boucharlat (University of Lyon). Articles are published in English or French and cover a period ranging from the proto-historical to the modern period, while its geographic boundaries coincide with those of the area where ancient Iranian or modern Iranian languages were or are spoken. Iranian Studies
Iranian studies ( fa, ايرانشناسی '), also referred to as Iranology and Iranistics, is an interdisciplinary field dealing with the research and study of the civilization, history, literature, art and culture of Iranian peoples. It is a part of the wider field of Oriental studies. Iranian studies is broader than and distinct from Persian studies, which is the study of the modern Persian language and literature specifically. The discipline of Iranian Studies focuses on broad trends in culture, history, language and other aspects of not only Persians, but also a variety of other contemporary and historical Iranian peoples, such as Kurds, Lurs, Gilakis, Talysh, Tajiks, Pashtuns, Ossetians, Baluchis, Scythians, Sarmatians, Alans, Parthians, Sogdians, Bactrians, Khwarazmians, and Mazandaranis. An academy ( Attic Greek: Ἀκαδήμεια; Koine Greek Ἀκαδημία) is an institution of secondary or tertiary higher learning (and generally also research or honorary membership). The name traces back to Plato's school of philosophy, founded approximately 385 BC at Akademia, a sanctuary of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and skill, north of Athens, Greece. Historiography is the study of the methods of historians in developing history as an academic discipline, and by extension is any body of historical work on a particular subject. The historiography of a specific topic covers how historians have studied that topic using particular sources, techniques, and theoretical approaches.
