Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks are a professional American football team based in Seattle. The Seahawks compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league's National Football Conference (NFC) West, which they rejoined in 2002 as part of a conference realignment. The club entered the NFL as an expansion team in 1976 in the NFC. From 1977 to 2001, Seattle was assigned to the American Football Conference (AFC) West. They have played their home games at Lumen Field in Seattle's SoDo neighborhood since 2002, having previously played home games in the Kingdome (1976–1999) and Husky Stadium (1994 and 2000–2001). Free Safety
Safety is a position in gridiron football on the defense. The safeties are defensive backs who line up ten to fifteen yards from the line of scrimmage. There are two variations of the position: the free safety and the strong safety. Their duties depend on the defensive scheme. The defensive responsibilities of the safety and cornerback usually involve pass coverage towards the middle and sidelines of the field. While American (11-player) formations generally use two safeties, Canadian (12-player) formations generally have one safety and two defensive halfbacks, a position not used in the American game. Chad Brown (linebacker)
Chadwick Everett Brown (born July 12, 1970) is a former American football linebacker of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the second round of the 1993 NFL Draft. He played college football at Colorado. Early life and college Born in Altadena, California, Brown graduated from John Muir High School in 1988. At the University of Colorado, Brown was a four-year starter on the Colorado Buffaloes football team. Professional career Brown was initially drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the second round, and became an important part of the "Blitzburgh" defense. Initially, he played at the inside linebacker position in the 3-4 with Levon Kirkland. He started at right inside linebacker in Super Bowl XXX for the Steelers, a loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The 1999 Seattle Seahawks season was the franchise's 24th season in the National Football League (NFL), the last playing their home games at the Kingdome and the first under head coach Mike Holmgren. Michael Sinclair (American Football)
Michael Glenn Sinclair (born January 31, 1968) is a former American football defensive end and defensive line coach. He played 11 seasons in the National Football League with the Seattle Seahawks and the Philadelphia Eagles. Sinclair was a three-time Pro Bowler in 1996, 1997 and 1998. He led the NFL in sacks in 1998 with 16.5, which is also the Seahawks single season franchise record. Sinclair won the World Bowl as defensive line coach for the Hamburg Sea Devils in NFL Europa in 2007. Winston Moss
Winston N. Moss (born December 24, 1965) is a former American football linebacker and coach who served as head coach and general manager of the Los Angeles Wildcats. He was formerly the assistant head coach and linebackers coach for the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the second round of the 1987 NFL Draft. Moss attended Miami Southridge High School and was an all-state linebacker. He played college football at Miami. Moss also played for the Los Angeles Raiders and Seattle Seahawks. Coaching career Moss began his coaching career in 1998 as a defensive quality control assistant for the Seattle Seahawks. 1997 Seattle Seahawks Season
The 1997 Seattle Seahawks season was the team's 22nd season with the National Football League (NFL). This season would mark a new era for the Seahawks as they drafted two first round picks (Shawn Springs and Walter Jones) and traded quarterback Rick Mirer and signed Minnesota Vikings/Houston Oilers quarterback Warren Moon to be John Friesz's backup. Moon and Jones would go on to be selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006 and 2014, respectively. They also signed rookie quarterback Jon Kitna. After a Week 1 injury to Friesz, Moon led the Seahawks improvement from 1996's 7–9 record to finish 8–8. Cortez Kennedy
Cortez Kennedy (August 23, 1968 May 23, 2017) was an American professional football player who was a defensive tackle for his entire 11-season career with the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2012. He redefined and expanded the possibilities of how a large-bodied interior lineman could be used. In 1992, he won the Defensive Player of the Year award despite his team finishing 2–14. Kennedy played collegiate football for the Miami Hurricanes at the University of Miami. High school and college career Kennedy was born in Osceola, Arkansas, but grew up in the nearby town of Wilson. The 1996 Seattle Seahawks season was the franchise's 21st season in the National Football League (NFL), the 21st playing their home games at the Kingdome and the second under head coach head coach Dennis Erickson. They were unable to improve on their 8–8 record, finished the season 7–9, and missing the playoffs for the eighth consecutive season. Owner Ken Behring unsuccessfully attempted to move the team to southern California. The team was sold to Paul Allen in June 1997. After the season, the Seahawks would never finish at the bottom of the AFC West again.
