Stephen Milne (swimmer)
Stephen Milne (born 29 April 1994) is a Scottish swimmer who competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Personal life Milne was born on 29 April 1994 in Inverness, Scotland, United Kingdom. He went to school at Perth Academy and is now studying at Perth College, University of the Highlands and Islands, for a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science. Swimming Milne competed at the 2012 European Junior Swimming Championships, held in Antwerp, Belgium. He finished eighth in the 200-metre freestyle and was part of the British team that placed fourth in the 4 × 200-metre freestyle relay. He competed at the 2014 European Aquatics Championships held in Berlin, Germany, reaching the final in the 400-metre freestyle, 800-metre freestyle and the 1500 metre freestyle, placing fourth in the latter with a new personal best. Freestyle Swimming
Freestyle is a category of swimming competition, defined by the rules of the International Swimming Federation (FINA), in which competitors are subject to a few limited restrictions on their swimming stroke. Freestyle races are the most common of all swimming competitions, with distances beginning with 50 meters (50 yards) and reaching 1500 meters (1650 yards), also known as the mile. The term 'freestyle stroke' is sometimes used as a synonym for 'front crawl', as front crawl is the fastest surface swimming stroke. It is now the most common stroke used in freestyle competitions. Swimming At The 2022 Commonwealth Games
Swimming was among the sports contested at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, held in Birmingham, England. The sport had been staged in all twenty-one previous editions of the Games thus far, and will be contested in England for the third time. The competition took place between 29 July and 3 August 2022, spread across fifty-two events (including twelve parasport events). For the first time, visually impaired swimming was held at the Commonwealth Games. The 2014 European Aquatics Championships took place from 13 to 24 August 2014 in Berlin, Germany. It was the 31st edition of the championships, and was held in a temporary facility placed in the centre of the Berlin Velodrome. Great Britain headed the medal table on gold medals and total medals, by some distance their best ever performance at the championships. The 2012 European Junior Swimming Championships were held from 4–8 July 2012 in Antwerp, Belgium. Perth Academy is a state comprehensive secondary school in Perth, Scotland. It was founded in 1696. The institution is a non-denominational one. The school occupies ground on the side of a hill in the Viewlands area of Perth, and is within the Perth and Kinross Council area.
