South Sudan National Olympic Committee
The South Sudan National Olympic Committee is the National Olympic Committee representing South Sudan. It was founded in Juba on 8 June 2015, and became a full member of the International Olympic Committee and the Olympic Movement on 2 August 2015. The theme of the June meeting was "Let's build peace and unity through sport", reflecting the ongoing South Sudanese Civil War. The founding president is Lt-Gen. Wilson Deng Kuoirot. A National Olympic Committee (NOC) is a national constituent of the worldwide Olympic movement. Subject to the controls of the International Olympic Committee, NOCs are responsible for organizing their people's participation in the Olympic Games. They may nominate cities within their respective areas as candidates for future Olympic Games. Handball
Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. South Sudan competed in the Olympic Games for the first time at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. The South Sudan National Olympic Committee (NOC) was admitted by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at the 128th IOC Session on 2 August 2015. World Taekwondo, called the World Taekwondo Federation until June 2017, is an international federation governing the sport of taekwondo and is a member of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF).
