South Aceh Regency
South Aceh Regency ( id, Kabupaten Aceh Selatan) is a regency in the Aceh special region of Indonesia. It is located on the west coast of the island of Sumatra. The regency covers an area of 4,173.82 square kilometres and had a population of 202,251 at the 2010 Census and 232,414 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2021 was 234,630. The seat of the regency government is at Tapaktuan. Some of the people of the regency are Minangkabau-descended Aneuk Jamee. Administrative districts At the time of the 2010 Census, the regency was divided administratively into sixteen districts (''kecamatan''). Subsequent to 2010, two additional districts (Trumon Tengah and Kota Bahagia) were created by being carved out of existing districts. Subulussalam ( Jawoë: سبل السلام) is a city in the south of Aceh province of Indonesia. It is located inland on the island of Sumatra. On 2 January 2007, the provincial government of Aceh declared Subulussalam to be an independent ''city'' as a result of the administration being separated from that of Aceh Singkil Regency. of which it was formerly a part. Aneuk Jamee
The Aneuk Jamee or Ughang Jamu people are a group of people spread along the west and south coast of Aceh, starting from Singkil, South Aceh Regency, Southwest Aceh Regency and Simeulue Regency. The Aneuk Jamee people are originally Minangkabau people who have migrated to Aceh in the 19th century, and intermarried with the Acehnese people, Kluet people, Singkil people and Devayan people. In terms of language, the Anuek Jamee language is considered as a dialect of the Minangkabau language that has a mixture of Aceh's native languages. Etymology The name "Aneuk Jamee" comes from the Acehnese language which literally means "children" (''aneuk'') and "guest" (''jamee'') or "children of guests". A regency ( id, kabupaten), sometimes incorrectly referred to as a district, is an administrative division of Indonesia, directly under a province and on the same level with city (''kota''). Telephone numbers in Indonesia have different systems for land lines and mobile phones: land lines use area codes, while mobile phones do not. For land line area codes, the digit "0" is added in front when dialing domestic long distance from within Indonesia, but is always omitted when calling from abroad.
