Slovak Wikipedia
The Slovak Wikipedia ( sk, Slovenská Wikipédia) is the edition of Wikipedia in Slovak. It was started on before 23 September 2003, only becoming active in the summer of 2004. It cleared the 15,000-article mark in September 2005 and the 50,000-article mark in August 2006 and the 100,000 article mark in August 2008. The Slovak Wikipedia has over 170,000 articles as of 28 March 2012. It cleared the 200,000-article mark on 5 February 2015. The Slovak Wikipedia is among the largest Slavic-language Wikipedia editions. There are many short bot-generated articles in the Slovak Wikipedia. Slovak () , is a West Slavic language of the Czech–Slovak group, written in Latin script. It is part of the Indo-European language family, and is one of the Slavic languages, which are part of the larger Balto-Slavic branch. Spoken by approximately 5 million people as a native language, primarily ethnic Slovaks, it serves as the official language of Slovakia and one of the 24 official languages of the European Union. Slovak is closely related to Czech, to the point of mutual intelligibility to a very high degree, as well as Polish. The Slavic languages, also known as the Slavonic languages, are Indo-European languages spoken primarily by the Slavic peoples and their descendants. They are thought to descend from a proto-language called Proto-Slavic, spoken during the Early Middle Ages, which in turn is thought to have descended from the earlier Proto-Balto-Slavic language, linking the Slavic languages to the Baltic languages in a Balto-Slavic group within the Indo-European family. Czech Wikipedia
The Czech Wikipedia ( cs, Česká Wikipedie) is the Czech language edition of Wikipedia. This Wikipedia contains articles, active users, and administrators. It was created on May 3, 2002 (Translation: "The Czech version of Wikipedia started its activities in 2002 and now already has 77,049 articles.") on a request of a Czech editor of the Esperanto Wikipedia. However, at that time, Wikipedia ran on UseMod software. The three pages the Czech version had at the time were lost during the switch to MediaWiki. The oldest currently available edit is from when the Main Page was recopied on November 14, 2002. It reached 1,000 articles, many about Esperanto topics, on October 20, 2003. An April 2004 report noted that it had 180 registered users at that time. In June 2005, the Czech Wikipedia reached 10,000 articles and it reached 20,000 in December of the same year.
