There have been two baronetcies created for members of the Orr-Ewing family, both in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. Both creations are extant as of 2010. History The Orr Ewing Baronetcy, of Ballikinrain in the parish of Killearn in the County of Stirling and of Lennoxbank in the parish of Bonhill in the County of Dunbarton, was created in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom on 8 March 1886 for the Conservative politician Archibald Orr-Ewing. He was the seventh son of William Ewing, a merchant of Glasgow, and Susan, daughter of John Orr, Provost of Paisley. The fourth Baronet was a Brigadier-General in the British Army. Charles Lindsay Orr-Ewing, fifth son of the first Baronet, was Member of Parliament for Ayr Burghs. His son Sir Ian Leslie Orr-Ewing was Member of Parliament for Weston-super-Mare. Baronets are a rank in the British aristocracy. The current Baronetage of the United Kingdom has replaced the earlier but existing Baronetages of England, Nova Scotia, Ireland, and Great Britain. Baronetage of England (1611–1705) King James I created the hereditary Order of Baronets in England on 22 May 1611, for the settlement of Ireland. James Henry Robert Innes-Ker, 7th Duke of Roxburghe (5 September 1839 – 23 October 1892), became Duke of Roxburghe on the death of his father, James Henry Robert Innes-Ker, 6th Duke of Roxburghe. Early life He was born on 5 September 1839 to James Henry Robert Innes-Ker, 6th Duke of Roxburghe and Susanna Dalbiac, Duchess of Roxburghe, only child of Sir Charles Dalbiac. His mother was one of Queen Victoria's staff until she died in 1895. His elder sister was Lady Susan Harriet Innes-Ker, who married Sir James Suttie, 6th Baronet. Gordonstoun School is a co-educational independent school for boarding and day pupils in Moray, Scotland. It is named after the estate owned by Sir Robert Gordon in the 17th century; the school now uses this estate as its campus. It is located in Duffus to the north-west of Elgin. Pupils are accepted subject to an interview plus references and exam results. It is one of the last remaining full boarding schools in the United Kingdom. Colonel Sir Donald Walter Cameron of Lochiel, (4 November 1876 – 11 October 1951) was a Scottish nobleman and soldier of the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders who served in the Second Boer War and the First World War. He was the 25th Lochiel of Clan Cameron, succeeding his father, the 24th Lochiel in 1906. Lochiel began his career as an officer during the Second Boer War in Southern Africa and was later based in India. In 1914 he was asked by Field Marshal Herbert Kitchener to raise the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders and served as Colonel of the regiment from 1914 to 1916. The casualties his battalions sustained during the war was said to have deeply affected him. After the war he retired to his estates in Lochaber with interests in sheep farming and land management.
