Shinmachi Street
is the main shōtengai, or shopping street in central Aomori, Japan. Along the street are local department stores Lovina (adjacent to Aomori Station), Nakasan, and Sakurano as well as many smaller shops and restaurants. The street is one of many streets used in central Aomori during the Aomori Nebuta Matsuri. Route description Shinmachi Street runs west-east from the eastern side of Aomori Station to Yanagimachi-dōri. The street is designated as Aomori Prefecture Route 16 along with the part of Yanagimachi-dōri between it and Japan National Route 4. A shōtengai () is a style of Japanese commercial district, typically in the form of a local market street that is closed to car traffic. Local shōtengai cater to the needs of nearby residents with a diverse mix of small specialty shops and few large retailers. Aomori Station
is a railway station in the city of Aomori in Aomori Prefecture, Japan. The station has been operating since September 1891, though the most recent station building, which consists of three island platforms connected to the station building by a footbridge, was completed in March 2021. Since 1987 the station has been used by the East Japan Railway Company (JR East) which operates various services to destinations throughout the Tōhoku region. Since 2010 the station's operations have been jointly run by JR East and the Aoimori Railway Company, a third sector, regional rail operator. Aomori Nebuta Matsuri
The is a Japanese summer festival that takes place in Aomori, Aomori Prefecture, Japan in early August. The festival attracts the most tourists of any of the country's nebuta festivals, and is counted among the three largest festivals in the Tōhoku region. It was designated an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property in 1980, and as one of the 100 Soundscapes of Japan by the Ministry of the Environment in 1996. is a major national highway in eastern Honshū, Japan. Measuring it is the longest highway in the country.
