Sherlock Holmes And The Leading Lady
''Sherlock Holmes and the Leading Lady'' and its sequel, '' Incident at Victoria Falls'' (1992), are a pair of TV films made in 1991 under the banner ''Sherlock Holmes the Golden Years''. Harry Alan Towers was executive producer and Bob Shayne was the writer on both. Plot Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson are elderly gentlemen in 1910 Vienna. Both are involved independently with foiling Balkan terrorists. They reunite by chance with “The Woman”: actress Irene Adler. They save Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria from an assassination at the opera house and thus delay the onset of World War I. The film also featured a number of historical characters, including Eliot Ness and Sigmund Freud. Peter Sasdy
Peter Sasdy (born 27 May 1935 in Budapest, Hungary) is a British film and television director. In addition to his numerous TV credits, notable among which is the Nigel Kneale-scripted ''The Stone Tape'' (1972), he directed several horror films for Hammer, including ''Taste the Blood of Dracula'' (1969), ''Countess Dracula'' (1971) and ''Hands of the Ripper'' (1971). Incident At Victoria Falls
''Incident at Victoria Falls'' (also known as ''Sherlock Holmes and the Incident at Victoria Falls'' and ''Sherlock Holmes: The Star of Africa'') is the 1992 sequel to '' Sherlock Holmes and the Leading Lady'', and the second and final film in the proposed series of television films ''Sherlock Holmes the Golden Years'' written by Bob Shayne. It starred Christopher Lee and Patrick Macnee as Holmes and Watson in old age. Plot In the film, Holmes is about to retire to Sussex and keep bees when King Edward ( Joss Ackland) sends him on a mission to South Africa to retrieve the Star of Africa diamond. Complications arise and Holmes meets several historical people including ex-President Theodore Roosevelt ( Claude Akins), and Lillie Langtry (Jenny Seagrove). He also encounters the fictional character A. J. Raffles. Margaret John (14 December 1926 – 2 February 2011) was a Welsh, BAFTA award-winning actress, known for her role as Doris O'Neill in ''Gavin & Stacey''. Elliott Ness
Eliot Ness (April 19, 1903 – May 16, 1957) was an American Prohibition agent known for his efforts to bring down Al Capone and enforce Prohibition in Chicago. He was the leader of a team of law enforcement agents, nicknamed The Untouchables. His co-authorship of an autobiography, ''The Untouchables'', which was released shortly after his death, launched several television and motion picture portrayals establishing Ness's posthumous fame as an incorruptible crime fighter.
