Sherlock Building
The Sherlock Building, also previously known as the Forbes and Breeden Building, is a building located in downtown Portland, Oregon, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2010, the Sherlock Building was purchased for $6.8 million by the Church of Scientology, with plans to turn it into the headquarters for its Portland chapter. The Church had previously purchased the nearby Stevens Building, but had decided that it would not be suitable without costly renovations. Frederick Manson White
Frederick Manson White (March 18, 1863 – April 23, 1952), commonly known as F. Manson White, was an American architect based in Portland, Oregon. White was known for his work in the Richardsonian Romanesque style. Among the buildings he helped design, as part of the firm McCaw, Martin and White, or designed as a sole practitioner, are the National Register of Historic Places. Downtown Portland is the city center of Portland, Oregon, United States. It is on the west bank of the Willamette River in the northeastern corner of the southwest section of the city and where most of the city's high-rise buildings are found. Stevens Building (Portland, Oregon)
The Stevens Building is a commercial and office building located in downtown Portland, Oregon, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The 12-story building was designed by Whidden & Lewis. The design is similar to the Failing Office Building (1907) and Wilcox Building (1911), also by Whidden & Lewis. Construction began in August 1913 and was completed in 1914, with the building opening on May 1, 1914. The total construction cost was $375,000 (equivalent to $ million in ). The building is approximately tall. Most of the building's original tenants were doctors and dentists and their patient clinics, and the building's design was adapted for that use. The building was renovated in 1954 to designs by architect Pietro Belluschi. Ruth's Chris Steak House is a chain of over 100 steakhouses across the United States, Canada and Mexico. On May 22, 2008, the company underwent rebranding and became part of Ruth's Hospitality Group after its acquisition of Mitchell's Fish Market. The group's headquarters are in Winter Park, Florida.
