Sherif Hetata
'Sharif Hatata ( ar, شريف حتاتة; 13 September 1923 – 22 May 2017) was an Egyptian doctor, author and communist activist.Gikandi, p. 308. Early life Hatata was born in Egypt on 13 September 1923 to an Egyptian father,Botman, 1988, p. 50. Fathallah Hetata Pasha,Baraka, 1998, p. 242. and an English mother.Botman, 1988, p. 51. His father was a Western-educated, feudal landowner, and his family was upper middle class. Hatata, who was raised in his home village in the Nile Delta region, was taught little about agriculture, the sector his family relied on for income. In his 20s, Hatata became appalled at the impoverished conditions in which the ''fellahin'' that worked his father's lands lived and expressed resentment that he was "the heir of feudalism and one of its sons."Baraka, 1998, p. 243. Feudalism
Feudalism, also known as the feudal system, was the combination of the legal, economic, military, cultural and political customs that flourished in medieval Europe between the 9th and 15th centuries. Broadly defined, it was a way of structuring society around relationships that were derived from the holding of land in exchange for service or labour. Cairo ( ; ar, القاهرة, al-Qāhirah, ) is the capital of Egypt and its largest city, home to 10 million people.
