Sellerio Editore is an Italian publisher founded in 1969 in Palermo, by Elvira Giorgianni and her husband Enzo Sellerio, encouraged by the writer Leonardo Sciascia and the anthropologist Antonino Buttitta. History After some titles published in the first collection, of suggestive name '' La civiltà perfezionata '' (The improved civilization), the publisher gained visibility with the publication in 1978 of Leonardo Sciascia’s '' L'affaire Moro '' (The case Aldo Moro). ''Società a responsabilità limitata'' (S.r.l. or srl) is a kind of legal corporate entity in Italy, which literally means (but is not entirely equal to) limited liability company. It has a similar form to ''società sportiva dilettantistica a responsabilità limitata'' (S.s.d a r.l.) for amateur sports-related companies and their corresponding regulations: article 90 of the Italian Law №289 of 2002. Augusto De Angelis
Augusto De Angelis (28 June 1888 – 18 July 1944) was an Italian writer and journalist, active in particular during the Fascist rule in Italy. Biography De Angelis was born in Rome. He published his first mystery, '' Il banchiere assassinato'', in 1935. He subsequently wrote some twenty crime books, whose protagonist is Commissario Carlo De Vincenzi of the ''squadra mobile'' of Milan. Some of them were adapted for television by RAI in 1974–1977, with Paolo Stoppa playing the role of De Vincenzi. Despite the success of the books, the Fascist government banned them. De Angelis was arrested in 1943, accused of being Anti-Fascist. Vincenzo Consolo
Vincenzo Consolo (18 February 1933 – 21 January 2012) was an Italian writer. Consolo was born in Sant'Agata di Militello, but resided in Milan from 1969 until his death. He began his literary career in 1963, but gained wider attention in 1976 with ''Il sorriso dell’ignoto marinaio'' (The Smile of the Unknown Mariner) and went on to become an award-winning author. In 2008 he was in Lisbon for a conference at Istituto Italiano di Cultura, where he met with the Portuguese poet Casimiro de Brito and Anna Luisa Pignatelli and wrote a comment on her novel "Nero Toscano". Vincenzo Consolo won the Strega Prize with ''Nottetempo Casa per Casa'' (At night, from house to house) concerning 1920s Sicily and the rise of fascism. Sergio Atzeni
Sergio Atzeni (14 October 1952 in Capoterra – 6 September 1995 in Carloforte) was an Italian writer. Life and career Born in Capoterra, southern Sardinia, Atzeni lived in Orgosolo during his childhood until he moved to Cagliari where, as a journalist, he worked for some of the most important Sardinian newspapers. He also became a member of the Italian Communist Party, but later left the party, being disillusioned with politics. In 1986, he left Sardinia and travelled across Europe, but in the last part of his life he settled in Turin where he wrote his most important novels, including ''Il figlio di Bakunìn'' (''Bakunin's Son''), ''Passavamo sulla terra leggeri'' and ''Il quinto passo è l'addio''. Giulio Angioni (28 October 1939 – 12 January 2017) was an Italian writer and anthropologist. Biography Angioni was a leading Italian anthropologist, professor at the University of Cagliari and fellow of St Antony's College of the University of Oxford. He is the author of about twenty books of fiction and a dozen volumes of essays in anthropology.
