Segundo Cardona
Segundo Cardona FAIA (born 1950) is a Puerto Rican architect and developer. His work has been recognized by the American Institute of Architects (AIA), by the ''Colegio de Arquitectos y Arquitectos Paisajistas de Puerto Rico'' (Puerto Rico College of Architects and Landscape Architects, or CAAPPR, for its acronym in Spanish) as well as by the International Union of Architects. In 2006 Cardona was elected as Fellow of the American Institute of Architects. In 1992, he was awarded the Henry Klumb Award. Education and Career Cardona entered the School of Architecture of the University of Puerto Rico and was a member of its first graduating class, obtaining a B.Arch in 1972. He was a design professor in the UPR (1974–1984) and was principal at Segundo Cardona Architects before co-founding in 1984 Sierra Cardona Ferrer (now known as SCF Architects) with partners Luis Sierra and Alberto Ferrer. Cathedral Of Our Lady Of The Assumption, Port-au-Prince
The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption (french: Cathédrale Notre-Dame de L'Assomption), often called Port-au-Prince Cathedral (french: Cathédrale de Port-au-Prince), was a cathedral in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Built between 1884 and 1914, it was dedicated on , and became the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince. The cathedral was destroyed in the 12 January 2010 earthquake. Before its destruction, the cupola of the north tower of the Cathedral served as the front lighthouse of a pair guiding mariners into Port-au-Prince harbor. Destruction The roof and the towers flanking the main entrance collapsed in the 12 January 2010 earthquake, although the lower parts of the walls remain standing. Luis Muñoz MarÃn International Airport ( es, link=no, Aeropuerto Internacional Luis Muñoz MarÃn) is a joint civil-military international airport located in suburban Carolina, Puerto Rico, southeast of San Juan. It is named for Luis Muñoz MarÃn, Puerto Rico's first democratically elected governor, and was known as Isla Verde International Airport (''Aeropuerto Internacional de Isla Verde'') until it was renamed in February 1985. It is the busiest airport in the Caribbean region by passenger traffic. Hato Rey (Tren Urbano Station)
Hato Rey station is a rapid transit station in San Juan, Puerto Rico, located in Hato Rey Norte and Milla de Oro financial district. The station was designed by Segundo Cardona FAIA of SCF Architects. It opened on December 17, 2004. The station is located adjacent to the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum (popularly known as the ''Choliseo'') which it serves. Extended operating hours The Hato Rey station is the only station to extend operating hours after nighttime events end at the ''Choliseo'' until all passengers in line have entered the station. Late night-scheduled one-way trains run in both directions of the line only from the Hato Rey station. The Bayamón route train will stop at every station only to drop off passengers, instead of picking up, and will continue the route until it reaches the end of the line. House At Breñas Point
The House at Breñas Point ( es, Casa de la Punta; "House at the Point"), designed by Segundo Cardona FAIA, was built in 1978 with the original purpose of serving as a week-end home for a family of six: a couple and their four children, on a site shaped like a peninsula on Breñas Beach. This small house, built with modest materials, has endured the wrath of three major hurricanes and several tropical storms and has merged with the landscape while maintaining a distinctive presence within it. Since its construction it has become a landmark and point of reference for locals. It is also considered an architectural landmark for its modern interpretation of a minimal tropical dwelling in modest traditional Puerto Rican construction materials and methods: reinforced concrete and wood. Caguas
Caguas (, ) is a city and municipality of Puerto Rico located in the Central Mountain Range of Puerto Rico, south of San Juan and Trujillo Alto, west of Gurabo and San Lorenzo, and east of Aguas Buenas, Cidra, and Cayey.
