Scott Surovell
Scott Anthony Surovell (born August 21, 1971) is an American politician serving as a member of the Virginia Senate, representing the 36th district, which encompasses portions of Fairfax, Prince William and Stafford counties, roughly following U.S. Route 1. He previously represented the 44th district in the Virginia House of Delegates. Early life Surovell grew up in the Tauxemont, Virginia area, and attended preschool, elementary school and intermediate school there. In 1989, he graduated from West Potomac High School, and went to college at James Madison University, where he was student body vice-president. Virginia's 36th Senate district is one of 40 districts in the Senate of Virginia. It has been represented by Democrat Scott Surovell since 2016, succeeding retiring fellow Democrat Toddy Puller. Geography District 36 covers parts of Fairfax, Prince William, and Stafford Counties in Northern Virginia, including some or all of Hybla Valley, Fort Hunt, Mount Vernon, Woodlawn, Fort Belvoir, Groveton, Hayfield, Lorton, Newington, Mason Neck, Woodbridge, Dale City, Marumsco, Neabsco, Montclair, Dumfries, Triangle, Quantico, and Cherry Hill. Tauxemont Historic District
Tauxemont Historic District is a national historic district located near Alexandria, Fairfax County, Virginia. It encompasses 71 contributing buildings, 1 contributing site, and 1 contributing structure in a World War II-era subdivision near Alexandria. In 1941, developer Robert Davenport and architect Alexander Knowlton as part of 20 original families created a cooperative and purchased the land for housing development. It was developed in three sections between 1941 and 1955. The basic Tauxemont house is a cinder block one-story, side-gable-roofed rectangular starter house. West Potomac High School
West Potomac High School, formerly Groveton High School, is a public high school in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County, Virginia. It was founded in 1985 and is part of the Fairfax County Public Schools district. History West Potomac High School was formed by combining the student bodies and staff of Groveton and Fort Hunt High Schools in 1985. The Fairfax County School Board, citing costs and declining enrollment as causes, decided to close Fort Hunt and combine the schools on Groveton's site under a new name. The school's facilities have been expanded significantly since the merger, with two wings added to the main building over the intervening years.
