Schönebeck (Elbe)
Schönebeck (), officially Schönebeck (Elbe), is a town in the district of Salzlandkreis, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is situated on the left bank of the Elbe, approx. southeast of Magdeburg. For much of the twentieth century it was noted for its large salt mine. The manor house of Schönebeck was owned by Count Heinrich von Blumenthal, Mayor of Magdeburg, until 1810. The firm of Sellier & Bellot opened a munitions factory there in the 1829. Sister City
A sister city or a twin town relationship is a form of legal or social agreement between two geographically and politically distinct localities for the purpose of promoting cultural and commercial ties. While there are early examples of international links between municipalities akin to what are known as sister cities or twin towns today dating back to the 9th century, the modern concept was first established and adopted worldwide during World War II. Erik Neutsch
Erik Neutsch (21 June 193 – 20 August 2013) was one of the most successful writers in East Germany. Life Early years Erik Neutsch came from a working family. After successfully completing his high school career he joined, in 1949, the ruling East German Socialist Unity Party (SED / ''Sozialistische Einheitspartei Deutschlands'') as well as the Free German Youth (FDJ / ''Freie Deutsche Jugend'') movement. The writer Between 1950 and 1953 he studied social sciences and journalism at Leipzig University, graduating with a higher diploma in Journalism. After this he worked till 1960 in Halle, as part of the Culture and Economics editorial team with Die Freiheit, at the time a newspaper of the country's governing SED (party). After 1960 Neutsch worked both as a journalist and as a writer of books. Katharina Heise
Katharina Heise (3 May 1891, Bad Salzelmen – 5 October 1964, Halle) was a German sculptor and illustrator. She provided several woodcuts which were featured on the cover of Die Aktion. After 1917 she focussed more on sculpture. Following the Nazi seizure of power, her art was declared degenerate. It was banned from museums and much of her public art was destroyed. he was also banned form taking part in exhibitions or taking on commissions. After her studio was destroyed by allied bombing, she returned to her parents home in Bad Salzelmen and continued to work in isolation. Farmers Branch, officially the City of Farmers Branch, is a city in Dallas County, Texas, United States. It is an inner-ring suburb of Dallas and is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. Its population was 28,616 at the 2010 census. Known as a "City in a Park" for its 28 parks in only 12 square miles, Farmers Branch is a small community in close proximity to Dallas, and has a business community that accounts for 80% of the city's tax base, allowing residents to have one of the lower city tax rates in Dallas County, while having dedicated city services and public safety.
