Demographics The population is about 2,851 with a rapidly increasing trend. Samstagern is a ribbon development, i.e. Samstagern was established alongside the street between Wädenswil and Einsiedeln. In Samstagern there are some peasant holdings, especially on the outskirts of the village. Its core was concentrated around some Weiler hamlets (''Weiler'') among them ''Grüenfeld'' and ''Bärenbrüggli''. Samstagern belongs to the urban area of the northwestern city of Wädenswil on Lake Zurich. On cultural matters, in Samstagern is a variety of clubs and societies located. Education A primary school is located in Samstagern; its schoolhouse (built in 1870) for approximately 190 students in 10 classes has been renewed in 2000. Samstagern Railway Station
Samstagern is a railway station in the Swiss canton of Zurich and municipality of Richterswil. It takes its name from the nearby village of Samstagern. The station is on the Pfäffikon SZ to Arth-Goldau line, and the Wädenswil to Einsiedeln railway line, which are owned by the Südostbahn. The two lines separate to the north and west of the station. The station is served by Zurich S-Bahn services S13, from Einsiedeln to Wädenswil, and S40, from Einsiedeln to Rapperswil. The station is the location of a Südostbahn railway depot and workshop. Richterswil
Richterswil (Swiss German: ''Richtischwiil'' ) is a municipality in the district of Horgen in the canton of Zürich in Switzerland. History Richterswil is first mentioned in 1265 as ''Richtliswile''. During the 17th Century, a series of peasant revolts broke out across Switzerland. One of these revolts, the 1645/46 ''Wädenswiler Steueraufstand'' ( Wädenswil tax revolt), occurred around Lake Zürich and involved the village of Richterswil. The Richterswiler Weibel Rudolf Goldschmid was one of the leaders of the revolt who was executed in Zürich following the failure of the revolt. During the first Villmergen war (1656) Richterswil was invaded by an army from Schwyz. During the second Villmergen war, the newly built fortifications above the city, prevented another invasion. Under the French established Helvetic Republic Richterswil was part of the District of Horgen, and had a higher tax rate than surrounding villages. Horgen District is a district of Canton of Zürich in Switzerland. The district is located in the Zimmerberg and Sihl Valley region on the left shore of Lake Zürich; its district capital is Horgen. Zimmerberg (el. ) is a mountain and a region located in the district of Horgen in the canton of Zurich, Switzerland. Its name bases on the Old High German word ''zimbar'' in the meaning of lumber.
